As Minnesota's leading harm reduction organization, we're dedicated to improving the health and autonomy of individuals who use drugs. Our approach is grounded in understanding and respecting the needs of our community, aiming to increase access to essential and supportive services, destigmatize drug use and sex work, and affirm the dignity of all people who use drugs and people experiencing homelessness.

Job Overview We are looking for a compassionate and proactive team member to support our drop‑in center. This role is pivotal in providing harm reduction services and coordinating various activities to reduce overdose deaths and support our program participants' health, safety, and dignity.

Responsibilities

Service Delivery

Offer harm reduction services such as safer drug use supply distribution, safe syringe disposal, and public health education.

Provide comprehensive overdose response and reversal education to participants and community members.

Manage supply distribution and ensure the drop‑in center is stocked with necessary materials.

Connect participants with relevant service providers.

Assist with the development of new or updated educational materials.

Work alongside the drop‑in team to support the overall provision and development of services.

Participant Engagement

Initiate and sustain conversations around harm reduction, ensuring all interactions are non‑judgmental and support the individual’s desires.

Ensure conversations around potential or current abstinence from drugs are non‑judgemental, non‑coercive, and participant‑driven.

Engage in informational conversations on safer drug use, harm reduction, and related topics.

Lead and coordinate participant engagement opportunities such as community groups and activities both inside and outside the drop‑in space.

Safety

Identify and initiate conflict resolution and de‑escalation strategies when issues arise between participants and/or participants and staff. Utilize the established support network of peers and management as needed.

Effectively communicate and enforce the shared rules and community agreements of the drop‑in space.

Participate in overdose response coordination in accordance with training, including identifying signs of overdose, administering rescue breathing and naloxone if necessary, and follow‑up support for involved team members.

Administrative Tasks

Track and report on program metrics.

Assist with inventory management and supply ordering.

Attend and participate in team meetings.

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills

A Harm Reduction based commitment to ending the War on Drugs and supporting people who use drugs in Minnesota.

Strong leadership, team‑building skills, and the ability to work in dynamic settings.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, experience with de‑escalation and non‑stigmatizing communication.

Ability to work independently, multitask effectively, and adapt to shifting needs.

1‑2 years relevant (paid and/or volunteer) experience.

Openness to individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those affected by HIV/hepatitis, drug use, sex work, homelessness, or incarceration.

Requirements

Eligible to work in the U.S. with 2 valid forms of ID.

Capability for occasional remote work as needed.

Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs.
