Director, Quality Services

Provides leadership and support to activities, processes, and policies resulting in high quality patient care driven by system-wide clinical practices and standards. Works closely with the hospital's nursing, medical staff, executives, and quality team to support the Orlando Health strategic vision for quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and all aspects of patient care that ties into the Orlando Health overall strategic plan and supports Orlando Health's commitment to patient safety and best practice environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for effectively communicating the corporate initiatives and expectations to all team members and physicians at the facility.
  • Works with the medical, nursing, allied health/support services leadership and senior leadership to implement strategies focused on quality, safety, and service.
  • Collaborates with the performance improvement team.
  • Works with various quality councils to identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for the hospital's progress on quality score card and Board metrics.
  • Establishes and maintains an open and positive working relationship with the medical staff, hospital leadership team, and other nursing, and allied health/support services leaders.
  • Participates in the integration of healthcare technology and information management systems that support service needs.
  • Responsible for compliance of all regulatory standards related to clinical care (JCAHO, AHCA) at the hospital level.
  • Works with the leadership team to develop a culture and practice environment that embraces quality and patient safety and is in compliance with the requirements of the various regulatory agencies.
  • Works collaboratively with the CQO to develop and implement the hospital level strategic plan for quality and safety.
  • Promotes a satisfied, healthy work environment for the workforce by establishing a climate of growth, challenge, and development of all team members.
  • Organizes and leads workgroups to achieve success with hospital quality metrics.
  • Works with the CQO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the development and management of the department budget.
  • Manages various human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other related functions:

  • Participates on committees related to quality and patient safety as appropriate.
  • Provides education and training related to quality and patient safety for the staff.
  • Produces reports to meet the needs of the physicians, practice managers and leadership that will facilitate the identification of areas of improvement opportunity within OH and/or document progress of improvement activities.
  • Makes regular visits to the various departments within OH to promote the culture of quality and safety, to serve as a resource for the staff as related to quality and safety, and to observe the daily operations within the practices to identify potential areas for process improvement or enhancements to patient safety.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Training: Master's degree required in a clinical discipline, industrial engineering, or related field. MSN preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Active nursing license preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years' experience in leading patient care and quality initiatives in a healthcare institution.
