Job Description

The Pharmacy Director – Acute Care is responsible for the oversight of all pharmacy operations for the respective Kaleida Health site. The Pharmacy Director works directly with system leaders of other clinical and non-clinical departments to establish overall strategic goals and directions related to acute care pharmacy services which support the care needs of our patients and supports interdisciplinary operational goals. Establishes policies, guidelines and procedures related to the medication use system that are consistent across operations and support the strategic goals and directions. Implement and maintain policies and procedures common to all Kaleida Health sites as well as appropriate site-specific policies/procedures when necessary to assure adequate and appropriate resources, including staff and supplies. Also, responsible for the coordination of various medication safety quality improvement projects assigned by Kaleida Health Senior Director of Pharmacy. Responsible to problem solve and resolve concerns of staff, management, physicians, patients and family members within the scope of their responsibility involving managerial/administrative representatives as warranted. Reports to the Senior Director of Pharmacy for Kaleida Health. Direct reports include supervisors and others responsible for acute care operations.

Education And Credentials

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required.
  • Advanced Degree (e.g. MBA, MHA, MPH, MS, etc) or PGY2 Administrative Residency preferred.
  • PGY1 Pharmacy Residency (or equivalent combination of education and experience) preferred.
  • Pharmacist license required upon hire.
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist or Leadership or Management Certification(s) preferred.

Experience

5 years of experience in health-system pharmacy practice required. 2 years of pharmacy management experience required. 1 year of experience in health-system pharmacy technologies (e.g. automated dispensing cabinets, IV room workflow systems, medication inventory management systems, electronic medical records, etc.) preferred.

*Wage will be determined based on factors such as candidate's experience, qualifications, internal equity, and any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
