Job Description

We are growing our sales team! Do you have experience in developing new relationships to sell profitable preventive roof maintenance agreements, restoration coating systems, and corrective roof repairs on commercial, industrial, and government buildings.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

Demonstrated experience successfully selling profitable commercial roofing service agreements and/or restoration coating systems.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to write highly effective reports, proposals, and business correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, and customers.

Ability to work with diverse client/customer base.

Attend job walks and prepare take-off off by measuring, noting all variables of the roof site. This may require multiple visits to the actual project site.

Fluent knowledge of a variety of computer software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

Knowledge of office administrative procedures and knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment.

Requirements:

Must have 5 years verifiable estimating and/or sales experience specific to roofing (preferably with a focus on service and/or coating restoration work).

All candidates considered for this position must be fluent in Microsoft Office suite software.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their skills and will be tested.

Key Responsibilities:

Solid knowledge to analyze roofs as well as blueprints, specification interpretations, proposals, and other documentation to prepare material quotes, fabrication labor and construction labor requirement quotes, project pricing, and bid abstracts. Prepare itemized lists and summaries.

Complete understanding of manufacturer product warranties.

Maintain a positive rapport with property and facilities managers, general contractors, and manufacturer representatives.

Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors and/or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.

Consult with subcontractors, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

Work with Project Managers, Purchasing, and Management as needed in the preparation and final evaluation of bids.

Organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.

Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and processes of improvement.

Estimate prices on change orders on existing contracts.

Attend pre‑construction and bid/pre‑qualification meetings.

Provide leadership to foremen, fostering safety, teamwork and discipline resulting in efficient and professional roof system installation

Provide consistently high-quality work and results

Effectively manage all aspects of production to meet company and project goals

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise foreman to lead safe and efficient roof system installations

Oversee field staff, assisting foremen with crew leadership

Visit job sites daily

Conduct or participate in daily safety audits

Train field staff in safety, work skills and efficiency

Provide ongoing feedback to foremen regarding job performance

Resolve complaints and grievances; assist with disciplinary actions when necessary

Discuss opportunities for professional development

Conduct annual performance reviews

Recommend raises and promotions

Ensure Production and quality goals

Maintain understanding of contract information for jobs

Track labor hours and production against stated goals

Schedule materials, equipment and deliveries, paying special attention to using

Inventoried materials

Monitor material usage, minimize waste, anticipate shortages and order materials as needed

Coordinate, supervise and manage subcontractors

Monitor quality of installations

Review plans and sites, delegate crews and do all pre-job planning including but not limited to assist safety in creating site‑specific safety plans and work plan efficiencies

Ensure crews have information and instructions necessary to complete jobs

Submit reports and paperwork and otherwise coordinate communication between office and job sites

Investigate incidents, near misses, accidents and thefts, and provide relevant documents, photos and assessments to the office

Review final paperwork to ensure change orders are reflected and billed

Participate in manufacturer final inspection

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED plus three years in a commercial roofing environment.

Considerable knowledge of various commercial roofing systems, materials, and installation methods.

Safety Training: OSHA 30‑Hour Card

Good knowledge of state and local building codes including Uniform Building Code, and electrical and plumbing codes.

Some knowledge of: construction site development; commercial construction, demolition, and remodel procedures

Experience: determining roof types and estimating materials, hours, and replacement costs for commercial roofing projects; directing large‑scale commercial roofing projects; interpreting roofing plans, specifications and standards; determining roofing product acceptability and developing warranties; developing and monitoring construction and contract documents.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, in English, and comprehend drawings and specifications, documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to compute rate, ratio.
