POSITION OVERVIEW:

The IPS Employment Specialist supports clients enrolled in the Adult ACT programs to secure supported employment opportunities within the communities of their choosing. The IPS Employment Specialist is utilized to implement the evidence‑based practice of Individual Placement and Support (IPS). The coordinator is responsible for building strong community relationships with potential employers in the community to link our clients to the supports needed to achieve their goal of employment.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for program development and quality improvement efforts.
Communicate and educate participants, families, colleagues and community partners about the principles and procedures of supported employment. Have awareness of benefits advisement.
Conduct initial and ongoing vocational assessments, identifying participant interests, strengths, skills, abilities, and unique set of challenges towards the goal of matching them with jobs.
Assist participants in job development, job match, networking and job search activities directed toward positions that are consistent with their needs and interests.
Help participants obtain competitive employment in integrated job settings.
Provide individualized follow‑along services in the community to assist participants in sustaining employment.
65% of time will be spent in the community. Develop jobs in the community; reach out to and engage potential employers.
Provide education and support to employer, as agreed upon by the participant, which may include negotiating job accommodations and follow‑along contact with the employer.
Provide services to participants individually.
Provide outreach services as necessary to participants when they appear to disengage from services.
Collaborate with the ACT service delivery team to coordinate and integrate vocational services into recovery and rehabilitation services.
Complete all necessary paperwork in My Avatar, NYESS and all other required systems.
Track and analyze supported employment outcomes.
Participate in external and inter‑agency initiatives and programs.
Provide reports and documentation as required by JB and external regulatory agencies.
Complete internal and external trainings as required. Participate in daily team meetings and supervision.

EDUCATIONAL / TRAINING REQUIRED:

A High School Diploma or equivalent (GED or TASC).
6 months personal or professional experience in human services.
Able to travel independently or with reasonable accommodation.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED / LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:

General knowledge in job development, job marketing and job securing is strongly desired.
Experience working with adults living with mental illness is preferred.
Basic understanding of benefits and entitlements.
Basic understanding of work incentive programs.

COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:

Experience working with electronic medical records.

Our staff use a culturally affirming, person centered approach to help individuals and their families develop skills and resources to improve overall functioning, to instill hope, and to strengthen resiliency. Our programs work closely with community partners to address health disparities in our neighborhoods while also celebrating the strengths and resiliency of our communities.\nThe Client Engagement Specialist team is the front office, reception and scheduling team for The Jewish Board Outpatient Clinics and CCBHC programs. The team works closely with callers, referring agencies, and Jewish Board Clinic staff, therapists and psychiatric providers to ensure clients are getting care and services appropriate to their needs. The team is the main point of contact for existing clients and new clients receiving outpatient services at the Jewish Board, so an expertise in customer service is essential. Additionally, the team gathers sensitive information (e.g. PHI) as part of the front office, reception and scheduling process and appropriately responds to acute clinical/safety concerns that may be identified.\nThe Client Engagement Specialist is responsible for answering, returning, & screening calls/requests, collecting and scanning documentation and co-pays as required, checking clients in/out as required, scheduling and confirming appointments made to the Jewish Board Main Reception Line (1-855-CLINIC-1) for outpatient Clinic and CCBHC programs and when clients call the clinic directly or visit the clinics in-person. Additionally, they will be responsible for scheduling appointments for existing clients assigned to these programs. The Client Engagement Specialist will ensure communication with clients is documented appropriately in the chart where necessary and/or make the clinic leadership aware of client needs where follow-up is needed by clinically trained program leadership, therapists or psychiatric providers.\nKey Essential Functions:\nProfessionally and cordially manage all interactions with clients whether in-person at the clinics or over the phone.\nNotify appropriate parties of any/all next steps or follow-up needed or of call outcome to ensure all parties informed of service provided to client(s)\nDocument service provided via info note in client chart where appropriate or required.\nSchedule new (e.g. psych eval, med. management, individual psychotherapy, etc) appointment(s) or follow-up appointment(s).
