Key Responsibilities

Review bid specifications and architectural drawings to fully understand project requirements.

Thoroughly examine all drawings and specifications, identifying potential discrepancies or areas that require further clarification. Engage in continuous dialogue with relevant teams to ensure complete understanding.

Work alongside District Sales Managers and Project Managers to provide the necessary technical and pricing support to secure projects.

Compile and present detailed quotes and contract forms, clearly outlining the scope of work, exclusions, and qualifications.

Engage in design reviews, cost assessments, and scope evaluations to ensure alignment with project goals and company standards.

Obtain and evaluate buy‑outs from subcontractors and vendors, ensuring all aspects of the project are covered.

Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements, contributing to the ongoing improvement of estimating practices.

The Sales Engineer serves as a technical resource responsible for developing accurate, cost-effective metal building estimates and preliminary designs that meet customer requirements, applicable building codes, and Whirlwind’s manufacturing standards. This role supports revenue growth by translating project requirements into technically sound, manufacturable solutions and by acting as a key technical liaison across commercial, engineering, and estimating functions.\nThe Sales Engineer applies expertise in structural systems, materials, and construction methods to ensure proposed solutions align with company standards, manufacturing capabilities, and overall project objectives.\nResponsibilities

Prepare accurate metal building estimates and preliminary designs using pricing and design tools.\nEnsure estimates comply with current building codes, design standards, and manufacturing requirements.\nUse value-engineering to deliver cost-efficient, buildable, and optimized design solutions.\nReview project documents to identify missing information, discrepancies, and required clarifications; appropriately qualify estimates.\nProvide technical guidance for non-standard or complex design conditions.\nCollaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Estimating teams to clarify scope, assumptions, and design intent.\nSupport training efforts for Sales and Estimating teams related to pricing tools, design concepts, and best practices.\nMaintain continuous improvement in technical knowledge, productivity, and engineering capability.\nQualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field.\n3+ years of PEMB experience or experience in related structural/metal building fields.\nProficiency with engineering/estimating software (e.g., MBS) and Microsoft Office.\nAbility to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.\nStrong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.\nEffective communication skills with both technical and non-technical audience.\nSelf-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple deadlines.\nBenefits

The Part-Time Marketing Coordinator provides hands-on support to the Marketing team by managing branded materials, coordinating internal initiatives, supporting sales and engineering needs, and assisting with company events and career fairs. This role is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented individual who enjoys juggling a variety of tasks and working cross-functionally. This position is part-time (20-25 hours per week) and is based on-site in Houston.\nKey Responsibilities

Manage apparel and merchandise, including ordering, researching new items, organizing swag closet inventory, shipping orders, and coordinating vendor searches.\nMaintain sales materials inventory, including tracking orders, quantities, and shipment dates.\nCoordinate color chips and panel samples by ordering internally, labeling, organizing, and shipping.\nSupport content management by downloading and archiving drone footage and videos and assisting with blog publishing.\nPlan and manage internal contests and engagement events (e.g., Halloween, Christmas, Easter, themed Fridays).\nProvide sales support by booking hotel rooms, flights, conference rooms, transportation, and assisting with presentation graphics.\nSupport engineering initiatives, including career fairs and ordering installation manuals for Houston and Tallapoosa locations.\nAssist with career fair preparation and logistics.\nReview LinkedIn profiles to identify Whirlwind Steel team members who need updated photos.\nPerform other duties as assigned, including supporting additional marketing, sales, or operational initiatives as needed to ensure smooth departmental operations.\nQualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.\nPrevious experience in marketing coordination, administrative support, or even coordination is a plus.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.\nProficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with basic design tools or marketing platforms is a plus.\nStrong communication skills, both written and verbal.\nDetail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working independently.\nMust be able to work on-site in Houston.\nWork Schedule
