ABOUT PARK BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND VISIT GALVESTON

In 1963, the citizens of Galveston voted to create a specialized unit of government called the Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston. The organization is responsible for overseeing Galveston's tourism efforts, Galveston Island Beach Patrol (GIPB) and Coastal Zone Management (CZM). The Park Board is funded primarily through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and beach user fees for the parks that they manage. Tourism pays for tourism as no sales or property tax is collected by the Park Board. The nine-member board is comprised of volunteer residents with diverse business backgrounds. Each is required to serve at least two years and must also serve on one of the Park Board's advisory committees.

Qualifications for a Sports Sales Manager

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

5+ years of experience in hospitality or tourism sales

Proficiency with office equipment including a laptop and fax machine

Valid Class C driver's license

Willingness to receive training to become a Certified Tourism Ambassador

Being professionally certified in the sports tourism or hospitality field as a Sports Tourism Strategist (STS), Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Destination Management Professional (CDME), or Certified Tourism Executive (CTE) would be a plus. Do you have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills? Are you a strategic thinker with a talent for creative problem-solving? Can you prioritize multiple tasks while effectively meeting deadlines? If yes, you might just be perfect for this position!

Work Schedule for a Sports Sales Manager\nThis Sports Sales Manager position typically works

Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM . Occasional early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required depending on operational needs and deadlines. This job requires travel both within and outside of the Galveston area.
