This role involves leading, training, and managing faculty and staff in communications exam labs and the Standardized Patient(SP)/Client Programs. The Director also develops, delivers, collects, and interprets outcomes assessment data on student and SP performance, assigns student grades, and oversees case study simulation lab encounters. Furthermore, the Director leads efforts to continuously analyze, improve, and refine professional skills and conducts OSCE communication assessments each semester.

Responsibilities

Ensures all preparatory materials are properly linked in applications before sharing with students

Maintains current and relevant course materials

Solves problems through evaluation, interpretation, and innovative approaches

Plans, organizes, and develops curricula, materials, and programs to meet specific training needs

Plans and coordinates skill assessments and training programs

May have teaching responsibilities

Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students

Participate on university committees

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Masters Degree or equivalent in related field

Experience in higher education

Strong interpersonal skills

Proficiency with technology and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

Basic knowledge of statistics and educational research methods

Knowledge of university program goals and objectives

Familiarity with veterinary education and TBL (Team-Based Learning)

This academic leader will work with department and university leadership to oversee the program including fiscal management, CAPTE compliance and accreditation, the development and assessment of curriculum and core faculty, and other duties as necessary for the success of the program. The Program Director will work with leadership on the growth, continuous improvement, and innovation of the program, and contribute to fostering a culture of positive leadership and collaboration among faculty and staff. The successful candidate will join at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, with a start date as early as January 2026 based on the candidate’s availability.\nThis is an exciting leadership opportunity to join a dynamic and caring team in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Program Director will serve as a strategic liaison, interpreting and communicating program goals and administrative decisions to faculty, staff, and students, and representing the program’s work to the broader university community. The Program Director will foster supportive student learning by ensuring the curriculum prepares graduates for licensure and professional excellence.\nThe DPT Program shares modern, interprofessional learning spaces with LMU’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program and fosters collaboration and contemporary teaching methods.
