The Actuarial & Investments Audit team—based in Boston and Springfield—combines actuarial, risk, investment, and audit expertise to tackle complex challenges and drive meaningful change. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to influence key decisions across MassMutual by bringing actuarial insight into some of the company’s most important risk and control areas. Our team assists the MassMutual Board of Directors Audit Committee and management in monitoring, analyzing, and strengthening internal controls. You’ll shape how the business manages emerging risks, strengthen core processes, and collaborate across teams to deliver work that truly makes an enterprise-wide impact.\nIn This Role, You Will

Lead engaging, complex audits across valuation, pricing, product development, FP&A, investments, ALM, hedging, and risk management.\nAssess inherent and residual risks and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls to support sound business decisions.\nEvaluate methods, assumptions and processes to ensure alignment with internal standards, best practices, and Actuarial Standards of Practice.\nDevelop and nurture relationships with strong partnerships across the business and Corporate Audit to enhance communication, collaboration, and influence.\nProvide meaningful, actionable recommendations that help leaders address emerging risks and drive continuous improvement across the enterprise.\nThe Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related discipline.\nASA designation\n5+ years of progressive actuarial, financial, investments, or audit experience.\nThe Ideal Qualifications

FSA designation\nProfessional designations in finance, investments, or audit (e.g. CFA, CIA, etc.)\nExperience with actuarial tools (GGY AXIS, Prophet)\nFamiliarity with programming languages and visualization tools (e.g. R, Python, SQL, Alation, MicroStrategy, Tableau).\nStrong communication and influencing skills with leaders at various levels\nExperience with audit techniques, including evaluating risks and controls, testing calculations, audit validation, negotiating control improvements, and confirming their implementation.\nDemonstrates a strong understanding of inherent and residual risks to assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls.\nWhat to Expect as Part of MassMutual and the Team

Overview

As an IT Audit Senior Associate, youll listen to learn about your clients IT controls environments and the risks they face, and then apply that knowledge to focus on what matters most with the resources, environment and support to help you excel. Youll build relationships with your clients and your engagement team while working collaboratively to improve the clients overall processes, and help them better understand their IT controls and areas of risk. Responsibilities

Planning, executing and completing engagements to evaluate and test IT controls and identify areas of risk and providing support to financial statement audits
Identifying market trends in order to be a proactive problem solver and sought-after adviser to clients and colleagues
Listening and communicating clearly with clients about engagement expectations
Training and supervising less experienced team members and providing consistent, regular feedback
Working at a client site, with your team in the office or remotely. We empower teams to listen first to expectations of clients and teammates; then you and your team can determine when and where to work. No matter when or where, you will have the support you need to thrive
Representing Grant Thornton at recruiting and professional networking events
Building your technical and professional skills through formal training
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, IT, MIS or related disciplines
A CISA certification or desire to pursue CISA certification preferred; CPA, CISSP, CIA or CISM license or certification is a plus
Minimum two years of experience in public accounting or an equivalent field, delivering controls-based services with exposure to Information Technology General Controls for financial statement audits; understanding of generally accepted practices for testing key reports and application controls; technical expertise (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, NetSuite, etc.) is a plus
Knowledge of at least one of the following: access control software, security architecture and administration, internet use/firewalls, network security awareness and enforcement, security policies and standards, operating systems (Windows, UNIX, AS400, Mainframe), or databases
Proactive problem solver with ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities
Value teamwork, agility and strong relationship-building
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Note: The base salary range for this position in Massachusetts only is between $95,000 and $142,600.
