The Senior Director of Inventory Management and Analysis at Jewelry Television® will lead the strategic direction for the company’s inventory levels, analysis, and analytical support for all owned inventory. This role is central to driving profitability, managing financial exposure, and ensuring product availability meets demand across all categories of business. The Senior Director will act as a strategic partner to the Executive Team, translating complex inventory and sales data into actionable strategies that directly influence buying, planning, and financial outcomes. This position is located in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Analysis & Leadership

Inventory Strategy: Define the overarching owned inventory levels for improved inventory health, including receipt flow, aging and clearance strategies for underperforming items.

Executive Reporting: Prepare and present concise, high-impact inventory health reports and forecasts to the Executive Team, highlighting financial risk, opportunity, and the rationale behind strategic inventory decisions.

Cross-Channel Optimization: Work with Showing Planning and Web Managers to ensure inventory layers are actively being addressed, ensuring inventory turns issues and opportunities are communicated.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Collaboration

Merchandising Buyers: Create overall Sales, Gross Margin and Open to Buys plans for each category of business based on Hours from the Buyers and Programming. Work directly with Merchandising Buyers on the open-to-buy (OTB), analyze category performance, and establish appropriate receipt flows to support the hours without creating aged inventory layers.

Broadcast Show Responsibilities: Oversee translation of category of business plans into Show Goals to provide direction on required financial performance by Show. Partner with the Broadcast Execution Teams to discuss inventory needs for live television programs, ensuring inventory is aligned with Broadcast schedule. Partner with Show Planning to assist in managing low generator items in order to sell thru on the Website.

Accounting and Finance Teams: Collaborate closely with Accounting and Finance Teams on inventory valuation, reserve calculations, shrinkage analysis, and budgeting. This includes modeling the financial impact of various inventory investments and liquidation scenarios.

Research and Modeling

Inventory Forecasting: Create and maintain a high-level Sales, Gross Margin, Inventory and Receipt model for the Fiscal Year, separated by Owned and Consigned segments.

Profitability Analysis: Review profitability and turn by brand, category, and/or vendor, as needed to support buying and programming decisions.

Process Improvement: Identify and champion opportunities to improve reporting and analytical tools related to inventory management and exception reporting with actionable callouts.

Additional Responsibilities

Inventory Health Monitoring: Review daily sales and inventory reports, particularly to assist planners and buyers on high-value/high-velocity category opportunities or risks.

Buyer Consultation: Conduct informal or scheduled meetings with Merchandising Buyers to discuss inventory health opportunities and risks.

Ad-Hoc Analysis: Field and prioritize analytical requests from Merchants and Broadcast Show Planners regarding inventory readiness or performance.

Data Integrity Check: Oversee and validate key inputs into sales models to ensure data accuracy before it informs decisions.

Executive Inventory Briefing: Prepare and finalize the weekly inventory performance recap for the Executive Team, focusing on Receipts, COGS, and Inventory Aging and Turns and summarizing key strategic recommendations.

Open-to-Buy (OTB): Lead the OTB planning process, providing analytical support to create receipt plans 3-4 months out. Manage preowned inventory levels.

Financial Reconciliation: Meet with Finance, Accounting and Operations partners as needed to review inventory aging reports, assess markdown reserves, and discuss other liquidation opportunities.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in Merchandising, Inventory Planning, and/or Business Analysis, with at least 5 years in a leadership/Director-level role focused on inventory and financial management.

Industry Focus: Proven experience working in a Retail environment that includes E-commerce and/or Broadcast/Live Selling. Experience with jewelry, gemstones, or luxury goods is preferred but not required.

Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of retail math, inventory valuation methodologies, OTB management, and the financial statements (P&L and Balance Sheet) as they relate to inventory.

Senior Director Of Financial Planning & Analysis

The Senior Director Of Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for leading the company's financial planning and analysis function. This includes developing and managing the company's annual operating budget, forecasting future financial performance, supporting M&A initiatives, preparing board of directors and institutional investor materials, providing analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making, and working collaboratively with the company's accounting and business systems teams. The Sr. Director FP&A will also work closely with other senior leaders to ensure that the company's financial goals are aligned with its overall business strategy.

What you will work on

Key responsibilities fall into four areas: Leadership, Program Execution, Operations, and Analysis.

Leadership

You will work with the CFO and other senior leaders to develop the vision and strategy for the FP&A function. This will involve identifying the key goals and objectives for the function, as well as developing plans to achieve those goals.
You will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing team of FP&A professionals. This will involve evaluating candidates and hiring top talent, as well as providing training and development opportunities.
You will be responsible for driving alignment between financial planning and analysis and the business. This will involve working with business leaders to understand their needs and ensuring that the FP&A function is providing the information and insights they need to make informed decisions.
You will be responsible for managing risk and uncertainty in the financial planning process. This will involve developing scenarios and models to assess the impact of different events on the company's financial performance.

Program Execution

Ensure that all SOWs are developed within achievable delivery parameters, with all aspects from requirements definitions through reporting and delivery accounted for.
Work closely with partners and core business teams to educate, coordinate, and internally partner to drive strategic relationships.

Operations

Overseeing the development and execution of the company's financial planning and budgeting process: This includes working with business leaders to gather input, developing financial models, and tracking actual results against the budget.
Providing analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making: This includes identifying trends, risks, and opportunities, and developing scenarios to assess the impact of different decisions.
Managing financial risk: This includes developing and implementing risk management policies and procedures, and monitoring company's exposure to risk.
Overseeing the management reporting process: This includes ensuring that financial statements are accurate and compliant with applicable regulations.
Providing guidance and support to the FP&A team: This includes setting goals, providing training and development opportunities, and resolving problems.

Analysis

Collecting and analyzing financial data: This involves gathering data from a variety of sources, such as accounting systems, financial statements, and market research.
Developing financial models: This involves using financial data to create models that can be used to forecast future financial performance.
Identifying trends and patterns: This involves analyzing financial data to identify trends and patterns that can be used to make predictions about the future.
Providing insights and recommendations: This involves using financial data to provide insights and recommendations to senior leaders on a variety of topics, such as budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
Communicating financial information effectively: This involves presenting financial information in a clear and concise way that is easy to understand by a variety of audiences.

Qualifications

MBA or Master's degree in finance; a solid grasp of accounting skills is a significant plus.
Healthcare industry experience is a significant plus.
Knowledge of NetSuite and Adaptive Planning.
15+ years of experience, with majority spent leading financial planning and analysis functions and teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proven ability to lead and motivate others.

Physical Requirements

90% desk and phone work.
10% travel across DrFirst and customer locations in the US.
