About the Role\nAssists in the management of personnel, their training, promotions, evaluations, and the disciplinary process. Assists in the management of maintenance functions such as Joint Commission and Department of Health readiness programs. Manages quality assessment and performance improvement programs for the Physical Plant department. Assists in the hospital’s construction projects including but not limited to, cost accountability, methods, coordination, and integration. Direct Reports may include space planner, senior project manager, supervisor for construction, access control manager, etc. Reports to the Executive Director Hospital Support Services and performs as acting Director in the Executive Director’s absence or as assigned.\nResponsibilities

What You’ll Do\nDevelops and maintains sound working relationship with all University Hospital departments regarding hospital maintenance, construction, safety, emergency operations and other hospital operation issues as required or directed by the Executive Directo\nEstablishes, preserves, and maintains good partnering engagement with all University Hospital departments, in support of all project assignments.\nManages the development of a strategic space information system, oversees needs assessments and the development of space use recommendations and solutions.\nAssists in the management of various projects and directs the maintenance, construction, and repair of hospital related buildings and various offsite occupancies.\nPlans and directs the maintenance, inspection, and repair of a variety of complex non-medical and medical equipment.\nPlans, assigns, and directs internal construction jobs.\nManages all aspects of the hospital utility systems, including scheduled maintenance, testing, and improvements. Systems include, but are not limited to, Electrical Distribution, Medical Gases, Steam, Domestic Hot and Cold Water, and HVAC systems.\nInterviews, supervises, supports, and motivates the Hospital’s Physical Plant staff.\nProvides effective safety awareness and trade related training programs.\nDevelops and recommends updates to departmental policies and procedures to ensure safe, effective, and efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.\nAssists in identifying key issues and action programs for staffing, training, safety, labor relations, energy conservation, customer service, capital renewal, productivity, affirmative action compliance, etc.\nQualifications

What You’ll Bring\nRequired:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, Facility Management or a related field required.\nFive (5) years or more of progressively responsible experience in facilities’ operations, maintenance, and/or construction required, preferably in a healthcare environment\nExperience should include at least three (3) years at supervisory/managerial level and experience in construction planning and management.\nMust possess experience in preparing for and leading EOC surveys such as those conducted by the Joint Commission, Department of Health, CMS, and local authorities.\nDemonstrated knowledge of a variety of trades such as Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry, etc. a plus.\nMust have the ability to function in and support a team environment.\nAdditional related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.\nValid driver’s license\nPreferred\nExperience in participating in emergency preparedness activities preferred.\nWhat We Offer\nVacation Time\nMedical & Prescription Drug Coverage\nDental & Vision Insurance\nHealth Savings Account (HSA) & Flexible Spending Account (FSA)\nShort- & Long-Term Disability Insurance\nPension Plan\nPet Insurance\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)\nProfessional Development\nCompensation\nIn compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is VS/35S - $129,214.00 - $161,515.00 - $193,822.00per year. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs.
