Position Overview As a key leader within the Global Innovation Policy Center (GIPC), the Senior Director, IP Enforcement will play a pivotal role in shaping and expanding the center’s strategic vision. This position requires a forward‑leaning, entrepreneurial leader who will drive multiyear initiatives, influence long‑term planning, and shape GIPC’s priorities to position it as a leader in addressing future challenges in intellectual property (IP) enforcement.
This role requires a proactive approach to identify emerging trends, create impactful programs, and deliver measurable results to help ensure the success of GIPC’s mission.
As Senior Director, you will have a unique opportunity to lead and grow a critical area of work within GIPC, driving meaningful impact in the brand integrity and IP enforcement space while contributing to the U.S. Chamber’s broader mission of advancing free enterprise and economic growth.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute comprehensive, multiyear strategies to advance GIPC’s mission of strengthening IP protection and enforcement in the U.S., with a focus on innovation, growth, and measurable impact.
Visionary Planning:
Anticipate trends in the IP landscape and position GIPC as a leader in addressing future challenges, ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of innovation and enforcement.
Program Development:
Build and expand GIPC’s portfolio of work in brand integrity and IP enforcement, including the creation of new initiatives and programs that address emerging challenges and opportunities.
Revenue and Membership Growth:
Drive revenue generation and membership expansion by cultivating relationships with current and prospective members, identifying new funding opportunities, and delivering value‑driven programs.
Policy Advocacy:
Serve as GIPC’s primary liaison to U.S. policymakers, including members of Congress, congressional staff, and administration officials, to promote effective IP enforcement policies.
Partnership Development:
Establish and manage strategic partnerships with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and other key stakeholders to advance IP enforcement objectives.
Public Representation:
Represent GIPC and the Chamber at high‑profile events, in media engagements, and in other public forums to enhance visibility and influence.
Public Awareness Campaigns:
In collaboration with the Chamber’s Communications team, lead public affairs efforts to enhance consumer awareness of counterfeit goods and the importance of IP enforcement.
Program Oversight:
Oversee and implement key GIPC initiatives, including the Safeguard and Secure Campaign and the Information Sharing Program, aimed at protecting the brand and product integrity of America’s innovative companies and creators.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and manage relationships with Chamber members, trade associations, public interest groups, academics, and other stakeholders to align efforts and amplify pro‑IP enforcement messages.
State‑Level Strategy:
Develop and implement targeted strategies in key states to engage audiences and stakeholders, promoting the economic and competitive importance of IP enforcement.
Innovative Messaging:
Identify and execute creative approaches to deliver pro‑IP enforcement messages to diverse audiences nationwide, ensuring these messages resonate with policymakers in Washington, D.C.
Team Leadership:
Foster an inclusive, collaborative team environment focused on achieving GIPC’s objectives and driving organizational success.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience commensurate with the role.
7–8 years of experience in federal government affairs, with a strong understanding of the political and policy landscape.
Proven ability to create and execute strategic, multiyear plans through innovative and effective tactics.
Demonstrated experience in program development, revenue generation, and membership growth.
Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues effectively to diverse audiences.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand and address a range of legal and policy issues.
Experience managing relationships with external stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and third‑party organizations.
Proven project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver results.
Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information effectively.
A collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset, with a passion for driving innovation and achieving measurable outcomes.
The salary range for this position is $118,690.00 to $140,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full‑time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
