Purpose To align TCCP’s technology infrastructure with its business goals by overseeing IT strategy, implementation, operations, security, and budgeting. Lead the IT department, manage vendor relationships, and ensure technology systems, hardware, and software are secure, functional, and efficient. Lead in alignment with the TCCP’s Key Ingredient values and in support of the co‑op mission of “Build community by developing a strong local food system.”

Essential Responsibilities and Functions Strategic Leadership

Develop long‑term IT strategies, goals, and budgets that support business objectives.

Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures for the IT Department, including system configurations, hardware and software inventory, manuals, operating procedures and emergency protocols.

Help provide overall strategic leadership for the organization as a member of the co‑op’s Leadership Team.

Infrastructure Management

Oversee network infrastructure, on‑premises and cloud servers, security systems, and hardware/software, including cloud‑based solutions.

Develop and maintain a lifecycle management system, including EOL upgrades, for all hardware equipment, software, and cloud‑based tools or integrations.

Ensure redundancy of all critical systems (power, data, communication, recovery) and implement a recurring test schedule to ensure maximum system uptime.

Along with the Assistant IT Manager, coordinate and respond to all emergency and critical system issues that occur.

Team Leadership

Lead the IT department, including hiring, training, and supervising staff.

Coordinate with site leadership and all impacted stakeholders.

Ensure clear development goals and performance objectives for all IT staff.

Uphold all co‑op policies and procedures.

Security & Compliance

Ensures data security and integrity, maintain privacy for internal and external stakeholders, and adhere to regulatory and operational compliance requirements.

Develop and test system recovery protocols for all enterprise software that minimizes operational impact and co‑op downtime.

Project Management

Lead research, review, and implementation of new technologies, software upgrades, and infrastructure changes on time and within budget.

Create and follow roadmaps for the five‑year technology lifecycle.

Vendor Relations

Coordinate and manage external vendors for IT support, purchases, and services following co‑op purchasing policies.

Ensure vendor performance under all IT support and product contracts.

Budgeting and Planning

Identify IT program and capital needs for the annual budget and long‑term strategic business plan.

Plan and manage IT projects, adhering to budget and achieving desired outcomes.

Attend management team meetings to strategize for company‑wide goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in MIS, Information Science, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

Proven experience in IT management, requiring 8+ years in IT, with 3+ years of leadership experience. Experience with departmental level budgeting.

Technical Knowledge:

Deep understanding of network systems, cybersecurity, software, hardware, PCI compliance, and IT governance. Experience with retail POS systems, preferred.

Leadership:

Strong team management, mentoring, and strategic planning as part of a decision‑making team.

Communication:

Excellent verbal and written skills.

Working Conditions

Frequently performs work in a retail grocery store, distribution warehouse.

May require work in small spaces to access servers, wiring, and computer equipment.

May work occasionally in temperature extremes (walk‑in freezer, warehouse, hot kitchen).

Occasional afterhours, overnight and weekend emergency and project work.

Physical Job Requirements

Ability to use computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and various office equipment continuously.

Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds frequently.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Ability to sit, stand, walk for long periods of time.

Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb stairs or ladder occasionally.

Ability to perform continuous fine work with hands.

Corrected vision to enable reading small print.

Clear spoken with ability to perceive the human voice.

Ability to work outside of normal store hours as needed.
