Job Title: Recreation Official

Weekday evenings/flexible schedule. Minimum requirements: Must be at least 14 years of age Prefer some knowledge of the sport you are working (basketball, volleyball or softball) Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Assist officials to start games on time and watch for weather conditions during the game, calling off contests when necessary to ensure participant safety. Report scores and any disciplinary issues to office following contests. Assist with the set-up and take down of the activity area and the proper storage of all equipment associated with the activity. Operate time clocks and scoreboards to help run recreational games. Interact with program participants, families, and coaches in a positive and enthusiastic way. Assist the referees with resolving potential conflicts between coaches, parents, program participants, and other staff members in a courteous manner. Assist the referees in ensuring the safety and well being of program participants, coaches, and staff. Attend staff meetings, orientation, and training sessions as required. Contact the Supervisor, Recreation Coordinator or Department Director in the case of an accident/injury to a program participant, coach, staff member, or other person(s) related to the program and activate EMS as needed. Report any vandalism, graffiti, or other problems observed at a program facility. Advise the Supervisor, Recreation Coordinator or Department Director of any suspicious person(s), vehicles(s), or any activity generally considered to be unwholesome or illegal. Other related tasks as assigned. Desired qualifications: Previous experience in assisting with youth or adult sports or other program activities in an organizational setting desired but not required. First Aid/CPR certification desired but not required. No benefits are offered for this position.
