Principal Software Engineer, Associate Director

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation seeks a Principal Software Engineer, Associate Director. The Development family is responsible for creating, designing, deploying, and supporting applications, programs, and software solutions. May include research, new development, prototyping, modification, reuse, re-engineering, maintenance, or any other activities related to software products used internally or externally on product platforms supported by the firm.

The software development process requires in-depth subject matter expertise in existing and emerging development methodologies, tools, and programming languages. Software Developers work closely with business partners and / or external clients in defining requirements and implementing solutions.

The Software Engineering role specializes in planning, documenting technical requirements, designing, developing, and testing all software systems and applications for the firm. Works closely with architects, product managers, project management, and end-users in the development and enhancement of existing software systems and applications, proposing and recommending solutions that solve complex business problems.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Leading technical processes and designs considering reliability, data integrity, maintainability, reuse, extensibility, usability, and scalability
  • Collaborating with infrastructure partners to identify and deploy optimal hosting environments
  • Defining scalability and performance criteria for assigned applications
  • Ensuring application meets performance, privacy, and security requirements
  • Tuning application performance to eliminate and reduce issues
  • Verifying test plans to ensure compliance with performance and security requirements
  • Supporting business and technical presentations in relation to technology platforms and business solutions
  • Mitigating risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls
  • Helping develop solutions that balance cost and delivery while meeting business requirements implementing technology-specific best practices that are consistent with corporate standards
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of product strategy and project deliverables
  • Managing the software development process
  • Driving new technical and business process improvements
  • Estimating total costs of modules/projects covering both hours and expense
  • Researching and evaluating specific technologies, and applications, and contributing to the solution design
  • Constructing application architecture encompassing end-to-end designs

Job requirements include a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering (any) or related field and 10 years of experience in the job or related position OR a master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering (any) or related field and 8 years of experience in the job or related position. Prior education, training, or experience to include:

  • Leading development teams, cross-functional teams, managing vendor relationships, and supporting tool integration initiatives.
  • PPM tool lead with OpenText PPM, Planview, ServiceNow, and Unanet experience.
  • JavaScript and SQL/PL-SQL programming (stored procedures, triggers, functions, tuning).
  • OpenText PPM, Planview, and Unanet configurations, workflow automation, web services, and integrations.
  • Third-party tool integrations for PPM, Planview, and Unanet.
  • Building Power BI dashboards for PPM and management reporting.
  • Knowledgeable in all SDLC phases: project planning, analysis, design, development, and unit testing.
  • Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies.
  • Platforms: AWS, Linux (servers), Windows (work environment).
  • Leading enterprise initiatives and delivering IT tool solutions to business strategy.

Location: Jersey City, NJ. Telecommuting may be permitted a few days a week. When not telecommuting, must report to DTCC's office in Jersey City, NJ.

Salary: $189,592.00-$192,592.00 per year
