Environment Illinois is looking for an enthusiastic Conservation Campaign Coordinator to drive campaigns aimed at safeguarding pollinators and other vital species. Illinois boasts a rich array of wildlife and habitats, yet many of these are endangered. Notably, bee populations are dwindling, with the rusty patched bumblebee nearly vanished across its range and now classified as endangered in Illinois.
Essential Responsibilities
As our Campaign Coordinator, you will lead initiatives to promote solutions that conserve wildlife in Illinois. This role involves significant discretion and independent decision-making regarding important matters.
Build Strong Coalitions:
Collaborate with a wide array of organizations from various political backgrounds to showcase support for our campaign objectives. Enhance Media Presence:
Organize press conferences, write compelling opinion pieces, and establish a vibrant social media presence for the campaign. Organize Events and Engage Volunteers:
Initiate webinars, community gatherings, and public forums. Mobilize members of the public and organizations to participate actively. Advocate to Elected Officials:
Meet with key decision-makers, from city council members to state legislators, to advocate for our campaign objectives and gather support for critical votes. Research and Create Campaign Materials:
Gather and analyze pertinent data related to our policies to sway public discussions and garner media attention. Recruit Team Members:
Expand your team by bringing in volunteers, interns, and full-time staff. Manage a Grassroots Campaign Office:
Oversee a summer campaign office, where you will engage in door-to-door fundraising to support our initiatives, develop the organization and its membership, and foster essential grassroots backing. You will set and meet your own fundraising targets while leading a team. Please be open to relocating to a different office for the summer. Qualifications We encourage entry-level applicants to apply. While we expect you to take the lead on your campaign, we provide training in advocacy and organizing, along with support from experienced advocates. Ideal candidates should possess: A deep commitment to environmental protection and grassroots advocacy. Leadership experience. Exceptional writing and public speaking abilities. Strong listening skills. A willingness to learn and grow. Organizing experience, including building campus or community groups. Compensation and Benefits This entry-level position offers a target annual salary of $38,250-$39,500.
