We are seeking an experienced power development professional who has a demonstrated track record of originating, developing and closing a spectrum of power projects in the United States.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute on origination strategy, with a bias towards offering holistic power solutions to large load clients, including but not limited to developing new energy storage, renewables, generation for data center developers and hyperscalers.
Establish partnerships with firms that are acquiring and repowering assets.
Identify and pursue utility generated RFPs with investment component.
Drive internal and external processes related to offtake opportunities, including RFP engagements with regulated utilities, as well as bilateral offtake negotiations.
Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.
Contribute to marketing efforts and client outreach to convey Aecon’s capabilities and services.
Leverage the company’s greenfield pipeline to structure value-added services for clients.
Support the sourcing, negotiation, and execution of long-term PPAs, VPPAs, and innovative commercial structures with clients to facilitate the development of a spectrum of power projects.
Represent the company to potential clients at relevant industry events.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Revenue, Development, Pre-Construction, Project Finance, Fleet, and Solutions teams.
Prepare tracking and analytics of project pipelines, and provide regular updates to the executive team.
Stay informed on trends impacting renewable development and their implications for client opportunities.
Required Skills And Experiences
15 plus years of experience with a renewable developer.
Bachelors Degree, with a focus on Finance or Engineering.
Experience originating, structuring, and negotiating PPAs in organized power markets.
Experience dealing within U.S. regional transmission organizations (RTOs) or independent system operators (ISOs).
Significant regulatory or commercial experience with available green tariffs.
High level of fluency in PPA document language, key terms and ability to structure and negotiate these terms.
Knowledge of / experience with datacenter power procurement.
Knowledge of U.S. energy markets, RTOs, and electric transmission.
Knowledge of the physical transmission system and long-term procurement required to enable generation and storage projects.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate internal stakeholders and external advisors.
Ability to identify and formulate risk management strategies for various offtake structures.
Strong commercial capabilities to balance client and business needs.
Professional presence and excellent communication skills.
Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
