Job Title: NYC based Freelance Junior IT / Microsoft 365 Admin (as needed)
Summary: Seeking a hands‑on junior IT administrator to manage our Microsoft 365 accounts and provide general desktop/laptop support as needed. This freelance role will handle user setup, troubleshooting, imaging, and routine admin tasks to keep end‑user systems and cloud services running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Create, manage, and provision Office 365/Microsoft 365 users, licenses, and groups (Azure AD, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint).
Configure mailbox settings, security groups, and basic MS/Teams policies.
Reset passwords, manage MFA, and troubleshoot sign-in/security issues.
Troubleshoot Windows/Mac laptop problems (hardware, OS, drivers, peripheral issues).
Image, configure, and deploy new laptops; install standard software and apply security/config policies.
Maintain inventory and asset records; perform routine backups and patching.
Provide Tier‑1/2 remote and onsite support; elevate complex issues to senior IT or seek help directly from Microsoft.
Document procedures, runbooks, and support tickets.
Required Skills & Experience
1–3 years IT support experience, including end‑user device support and M365 administration.
Practical experience with Microsoft 365 admin portal, Azure AD, Exchange Online, Teams, and Intune (or willingness to learn Intune quickly).
Proficient with Windows 10/11 imaging and deployment tools (e.g., MDT, Windows Autopilot, or similar); basic macOS support experience a plus.
Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, OS, networking, and peripheral issues.
Familiarity with MFA, conditional access basics, and security best practices.
Comfortable using ticketing systems and remote support tools.
Good written and verbal communication; ability to write clear documentation.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals (MS-900) or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
Experience with Intune device management and Autopilot deployment.
Basic networking knowledge (DNS, DHCP, VPN).
Experience scripting (PowerShell) for automating routine tasks.
Logistics
Contract/freelance; part-time or project-based.
Ability to work remotely with occasional onsite visits.
Availability for typical business hours; on-call or emergency support as needed.
