Position Overview A Low Voltage (LV) Systems Designer creates technical plans, schematics, and layouts for building infrastructure that operates on low voltage, such as security, telecommunications, audiovisual, and fire alarm systems. They work with engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure designs are efficient, functional, and compliant with codes like the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Responsibilities

Use Revit to produce drawings for a variety of projects

Prepare and lay out BIM drawings, ensuring coordination with all other disciplines at all phases of project production, including schematic design, design development, permitting, and construction documents

Perform Construction Administration (CA) duties, such as responding to Submittals and RFIs

Communicate status on projects, evolving and revisiting workflows as necessary to maintain project efficiencies

Maintain accurate time tracking in the project management system

May attend meetings with designers and engineers, architects, owners, code officials/AHJ, and other construction professionals

Perform site visits and create site report documentation

Qualifications

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and ideally based in Orlando or Tampa, Florida, Houston or Dallas, Texas

Minimum of 2-5 years of professional experience as a low voltage systems designer of commercial buildings preferably in aviation, higher education, health care, hospitality, entertainment, or governmental facilities

RCDD certification strongly preferred

Prior low-voltage fire alarm and technology experience required

Advanced Revit MEP proficiency required

Highly proficient technical/computer skills including Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Work, Excel), internet and web applications

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

Critical thinker with the ability to make decisions independently

Meets deadlines, works independently or as part of a team, accountable, maintains focus on set objectives and goals

Excellent attention to detail and thoroughness in deliverables and communications, maintains high-quality standards, and good follow-up skills

Ethical, honest, and accountable; maintains confidentiality, handles sensitive information with discretion and professionalism

Has a bias for action and seeks new opportunities for continual improvement

Keeps information organized and accessible, maintains efficient workspace, manages time well

Ability to work effectively in a group or team environment as well as independently; values input and opinions of others

Physical Requirements Must have the ability to perform the necessary job-related functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Travel up to 20% for site investigations and assessments, or client meetings

Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting, for prolonged periods

Work extended hours, evenings and weekends when necessary to meet business deadlines

Regular use of office equipment such as a computer/laptop and computer screens

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components

Ability to see differences between colors, shades and brightness

Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)

May occasionally be exposed to the following work conditions: work near/with moving mechanical parts; work near/with electrical currents; work in high places or underground; be exposed to fumes/airborne particles or caustic chemicals; withstand outdoor weather conditions; withstand moderate to very loud noises
