Job Family Definition:
Responsible for researching, planning and producing holistic experience concepts and specifications that optimize the user experience across all media (hardware, software, environment, etc.) for specific touch points of the complete solution, leveraging user insights to drive design direction or improve existing designs. Roles include enhancements, new experience designs, and strategic experience design – new or improved ecosystem experience and architecture. Management Level Definition:
Applies subject matter expertise to solve technical problems, may act as project lead, and provides guidance to others. Exercises independent judgment and consults with others to determine the best method for achieving objectives. Responsibilities
Research and design user experience solutions for products and service lines based on established design principles and guidelines. Plan, validate, and implement research methods to test and gather user experience data; analyze, evaluate, describe, and report results and recommendations to design stakeholders. Develop and implement user experience design plans, changes, specifications, and reusable design elements for new and existing products. Collaborate with management, internal, and outsourced design and development partners to coordinate design activities, evaluate concepts, and implement changes to improve user experience. Lead a team of designers and partners to develop holistic, high-quality user experience solutions for moderate to complex projects, products, and services. Represent the user experience design team for all phases of larger and more complex development and design projects and programs. Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a closely related quantitative discipline. Typically 4-6 years of experience. Knowledge and Skills
Experience applying design theories and principles to IT and consumer product design. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience designing and implementing research and data collection plans for user testing and acceptance. Evaluating designs and making recommendations to improve product quality and user experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to communicate user experience data, design proposals and product specifications and negotiate options at management levels. Impact/Scope
Collaborates with peers, junior engineers, technicians, and external design partners. Typically interacts with high-level Individual Contributors, Managers and Program Core Teams. Leads a project requiring user experience development. Complexity
