AIG has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join our Energy and Engineered Risk Property Team focusing on property coverage for clients in the power and utility sector. Responsibilities Underwriting and managing an existing book of traditional power and renewable energy risks and developing and underwriting a pipeline of new business opportunities across the country.
Collaborating with peers in other regions and providing technical underwriting support on existing accounts in those regions, ensuring a consistent approach to market throughout the country.
Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients.
Communicate our value proposition with our brokers and clients and demonstrate our right to win.
Identify future industry trends, understand how they will impact our clients business and develop new strategies around those trends.
Communicate to internal stakeholders on the profitability of the portfolio.
Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients.
Attend client/broker meetings, presentations and relevant industry events on behalf of the company.
Participate in special underwriting projects as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum of five years of experience in the power and renewable energy property insurance market.
Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university.
Advanced technical knowledge of the power and renewable energy space including gas and steam turbine, wind, solar and battery storage, understanding key hazards associated with them, industry loss trends and the ability to differentiate risks.
Ability to rapidly evaluate, prioritize and select submissions to be underwritten.
Ability to analyze policy wordings.
Demonstrated knowledge of current market conditions, trends and the ability to leverage that knowledge to give us the right to win.
Relationships with tier 1 and 2 brokers and the ability to develop new relationships.
Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment making quick decisions while adhering to sound underwriting discipline.
Willingness to travel 25% of the time.
Compensation and Benefits
For positions based in New York City, NY, the base salary range is $81,000-$109,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. A summary of benefits can be viewed in the US Benefits Overview. Work Environment and Inclusion
