
Duties
Stocking and displaying fresh fruits and vegetables, arranging them aesthetically, rotating stock to ensure freshness, cut and package fruit and vegetables for sale.
Inspecting produce for spoilage or damage, removing substandard items, ensuring all products meet safety and quality standards.
Using a wet rack to transport produce from backroom to sales floor.
Providing customer service to all customers in the store and department, including offering samples of produce.
Preparing fresh salad bags.
Cleaning backroom and taking out the garbage.
Checking the sales floor for spills or trip hazards and sweeping/mopping area two to three times per day and as needed.
Greeting customers, addressing inquiries, providing recommendations, and assisting with locating items to enhance customer satisfaction.
Monitoring inventory levels, placing orders, receiving deliveries, and verifying the accuracy and quality of incoming stock.
Adhering to food safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized department, and properly handling equipment and products to prevent contamination.
Requirements, Skills And Experience
1-3 years of customer service experience in a busy grocery store or similar environment preferred.
Understanding the importance and the ability to work well as part of a dynamic, diverse team.
Must be able to correctly and safely use standard produce department equipment.
Knowledge of produce, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques.
Follow all safety rules and actively prevent accidents.
Availability and willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.; stand, bend, reach, twist, and turn for up to 4 hours continuously.
Must be at least 18 years old.
