Strategic Analyst (Strategy, Concepts, and Doctrine) – Washington, DC

The Strategic Analyst (Strategy, Concepts, and Doctrine) provides senior-level analytical support to HQDA G-3/5/7 in the development, review, and assessment of Army, Joint, and DoD strategies, concepts, and doctrinal products. The analyst supports Army senior leaders by translating strategic guidance into actionable insights, assessing future force implications, and ensuring Army security cooperation strategy and concepts are aligned with national and defense-level priorities. This position requires experience operating in a headquarters-level environment and the ability to produce high-quality, executive-level analytic products.

Key Responsibilities

Provide analytical support to Army strategic planning processes and senior leader decision-making

Review and analyze DoD, Joint Staff, and Army strategic documents to assess implications for Army strategy, concepts, and doctrine

Evaluate Joint and Army concepts for future force strategic and operational impacts

Participate in the development, review, and refinement of Army and Joint concepts and doctrinal products

Support development of Army responses to Congressional Questions for the Record (QFRs)

Assist with strategic planning activities in support of the Army Strategic Planning System and the Army Campaign Plan

Develop and coordinate strategic input related to Allies and Partners initiatives

Draft, edit, and staff information papers, decision briefs, executive summaries, facers, and talking points for Army senior leaders

Support Army participation in exercises, wargames, and analytical events related to future force concepts and strategy

Coordinate with HQDA, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and interagency partners as required

Monitor emerging strategic trends, threats, and policy developments relevant to Army strategy and security cooperation

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Strategy, International Relations, Security Studies, Military Studies)

Minimum of 6 years of relevant military or civilian experience in strategic analysis, planning, or doctrine development

Demonstrated experience supporting DoD, Army Staff, Joint Staff, or Combatant Command organizations

Strong analytical writing skills with the ability to produce senior-leader-level products

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Ability to synthesize complex strategic issues into clear, actionable recommendations

Active TS/SCI security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related discipline

Experience supporting Joint or Army doctrine development

Familiarity with future force concepts, wargaming, or concept development processes

Experience supporting security cooperation, allies and partners initiatives, or multinational planning

Prior experience supporting exercises or analytical wargames
