The Assistant Director of Finance supports the Director of Finance in managing all financial aspects of the hotel. This on-site role leads day-to-day accounting operations, ensures strong internal controls, and partners with hotel leadership to drive financial performance, compliance, and value creation in accordance with Hyatt standards and owner expectations.

Key Responsibilities Financial Management

Lead the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and routing financial statements for review

Prepare variance explanations, management fee calculations, cash flow statements, and reports as assigned

Complete Monthly Financial Reviews (MFR) in collaboration with department leaders

Prepare monthly forecasts and performance test documentation for Director review and submission

Review medium-risk balance sheet reconciliations monthly

Support accurate, timely financial reporting and analysis in accordance with Hyatt standards

Compliance & Risk

Maintain strong internal controls, including quarterly self-assessments in collaboration with operations

Ensure compliance with Hyatt policies, procedures, and SOX requirements, including proper segregation of duties

Manage and support the external audit process; prepare audit work papers and respond to auditor requests

Ensure accuracy of POS and PMS tax setups

Support safeguarding of owner assets through consistent, compliant financial practices

Operational Leadership

Coach, counsel, train, and evaluate accounting colleagues in alignment with Hyatt service standards and procedures

Assist in supervising Accounting, Purchasing, and Information Technology functions as assigned

Lead financial education and support for non-finance managers to improve financial literacy and operational decision‑making

Foster a collaborative, service-oriented finance team culture that supports hotel operations

Business Partner

Proactively identify and troubleshoot cost control opportunities and revenue enhancements

Improve finance and accounting processes to optimize team efficiency and performance

Support special financial reporting and analysis projects as assignedPartner with hotel leadership to support informed decision-making and operational excellence

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality, or related field preferred

Minimum of Five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, hotel finance experience strongly preferred

Prior experience supervising or leading accounting team members

Experience with hotel systems preferred (Oracle, MICROS, Opera PMS, Hyatt systems)

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Advanced proficiency in AI Tools such as ChatGPT Enterprise or Copilot

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills

Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills in English

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues of diverse backgrounds

High energy, strong attention to detail, service-oriented mindset, and ability to positively impact financial performance
