Join a high-growth GovTech company supporting U.S. national security and defense priorities. Our client, a venture-backed GovTech company, is seeking a Communications Manager to serve as the right hand to the SVP of Communications and help scale a fast-moving communications and content function. This is a highly visible, hands-on role for a seasoned communicator who can translate complex, technical, defense-adjacent subject matter into clear, compelling narratives — and then repurpose that messaging into high-performing content across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate brings strong B2G communications experience, ideally supporting or marketing into the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and thrives in a high-growth environment where strong execution and sharp judgment are essential. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity. Location
Onsite in Arlington, VA — 5 days per week. No exceptions. Up to 20% travel may be required. U.S. citizenship or a permanent residency card in the U.S. is required to be an eligible candidate for this opportunity. Responsibilities
Develop and execute high-impact communications and content that builds awareness, credibility, and engagement across GovTech and defense audiences. Translate dense, technical, and national security-related subject matter into clear, compelling narratives for multiple stakeholders and audience types. Write and edit content across formats, including: Blogs and thought leadership Social media copy (hands-on posting and execution) Media materials and briefing documents Executive speaker proposals for industry events Take long-form content and rework it into shorter, channel-specific messaging that performs across social and digital platforms. Own editorial calendar, including schedules, approvals, and cross-functional coordination. Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison for PR agency partners, providing media briefs and supporting pitching and visibility efforts Support executive visibility initiatives by developing keynote/panel submissions and messaging for major industry events. Prepare briefing materials and talking points for media engagements and executive communications. Collaborate closely across marketing, research, and product marketing teams to ensure messaging consistency and alignment. Skills Needed
8–10+ years of experience in communications, public relations, content strategy, or content marketing. Proven ability to write exceptionally well across formats, with a portfolio demonstrating strong storytelling and audience engagement. Prior experience in B2G marketing/communications, strongly preferred — especially with exposure to: defense acquisition, national security, government technology ecosystems Experience thriving in an entrepreneurial, high-growth, fast-paced environment (startup experience strongly preferred). Strong project management skills with the ability to manage an aggressive editorial calendar and communications workflow. Strong social media instincts and modern channel fluency. Comfortable using AI tools (including LLMs) to accelerate drafting and ideation while maintaining high editorial standards. High accountability and adaptability — comfortable moving between strategic storytelling and detailed execution. Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders and operate with high exposure.
