About ROC Star Academy ROC Star Academy is the region’s leading performance-based music academy for kids and teens. The academy has launched numerous successful student bands and solo artists and is known for helping young musicians build confidence, stage presence, and real-world performance experience.
ROC Star Academy was founded by Elvio Fernandes, a world-renowned musician, hit songwriter, and member of the multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated band Daughtry. Elvio is also a SUNY Geneseo alumni and remains actively involved in the academy’s mission and creative direction.
Position Overview This is a part-time, independent role focused on creating and managing social media content for ROC Star Academy. The individual in this position will receive initial guidance and basic training if needed, then work independently to plan, capture, and publish engaging content on a regular basis.
Job Responsibilities
Independently capture video and photo content during lessons, rehearsals, and performances
Create, post, and manage content across social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
Stay updated with current social media trends and apply them appropriately
Identify engaging moments, stories, and trends that appeal to students and parents
Capture student, parent, and instructor testimonials in an age-appropriate manner
Write captions and short descriptions for social media posts
Organize and manage digital media files
Maintain a consistent posting schedule
Eligibility and Qualifications
No prior professional experience required
Basic training and guidance provided as needed
Comfortable using social media platforms and creating content independently
Experience creating, posting, and managing a social media account in a business or organizational setting is preferred but not required
Interest or experience in music or the music industry is preferred but not required
Comfortable working around children and teenagers
Reliable, organized, and self-directed
Must be willing to travel between Livingston County and Monroe County for content capture
Schedule and Compensation
Approximately 20 hours per week
Flexible schedule
$18–$20 per hour
Performance-based bonuses available
