About First Responder Support Network: Rooted in the mission of providing evidence-based treatment, resilience education, and peer support, the First Responder Support Network (FRSN) empowers first responders and their families to thrive in their daily lives. Founded nearly 25 years ago as the West Coast Post-Trauma Retreat (WCPR), FRSN has served more than 2,300 first responders and their families impacted by on-the-job trauma and critical incident stress, often compounded after years of service to their communities, through its six‑day retreats and trauma‑informed programs. The Significant Others and Spouses (SOS) program provides wrap‑around support to current or former partners, and widows of first responders. Along with FRSN’s Northern California base, retreats are offered in Washington, Oregon, Indiana, and Kansas. FRSN provides basic and advanced peer support trainings, as well as clinical and chaplain training opportunities. FRSN’s programs have become a nationally respected model of healing and hope.
Position Summary The Marketing & Communications Coordinator manages FRSN’s communications, digital presence, storytelling, and marketing materials to support program visibility, donor engagement, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising campaigns. This role ensures consistent brand messaging across digital, print, and event communications channels.
Communications & Content Development
Draft and distribute newsletters, email campaigns, announcements, and storytelling features.
Coordinate communication timelines supporting fundraising campaigns, events, and organizational initiatives.
Support donor, volunteer, and stakeholder communications aligned with FRSN messaging priorities.
Digital Presence & Website Management
Maintain and update FRSN website content, program pages, and event information.
Coordinate website analytics tracking and recommend engagement improvements.
Manage online forms, donation landing pages, and campaign pages.
Social Media & Marketing
Develop and manage a consistent social media calendar aligned with organizational campaigns and first responder observances.
Create graphics, social posts, and digital storytelling content.
Monitor engagement metrics and provide monthly performance summaries.
Develop press releases and track earned media.
Design and coordinate development of flyers, brochures, sponsorship materials, event collateral, and branded templates.
Maintain brand standards across communications platforms and materials.
Support development initiatives with campaign‑specific communication assets.
Administrative & Reporting
Maintain communications content library, media assets, and templates.
Track communications metrics including open rates, engagement, and website performance.
Provide monthly communications activity reports.
Other
Attend staff meetings
Attend regular check‑in meetings with Executive Director
Collaborate with other staff members as needed
Adhere to all FRSN policies, HIPAA, and other pertinent regulations
Other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field preferred.
2+ years of marketing, communications, or nonprofit outreach experience preferred.
Highly proficient computer skills including Google Workspace, and online communication and collaboration tools.
Experience with website platforms, email marketing systems, and social media management tools.
Graphic design experience (Canva, Adobe, or similar) preferred.
Strong creative skills with the ability to translate organizational priorities into compelling storytelling, visual content, and campaigns across digital and print platforms.
Exceptional writing and editing skills.
Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
Excellent attention to detail and pride in work product.
Exceptional self‑motivation and good judgment.
Understanding of confidentiality issues and ability to use good judgment to maintain donor confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Passion for FRSN’s mission and working within a remote mission‑driven team.
Travel Occasional travel for meetings and events, primarily in Northern California.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a part‑time, primarily remote position, working 30 hours per week. Days and hours of work are flexible and dependent upon timing of FRSN‑related tasks required and staff member’s availability; however, staff member will designate specific periods of time during a Monday – Friday work week when s/he/they is/are regularly available in order to conduct necessary business.
This job may operate in a business office or home office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands This is largely a sedentary role working at a computer; however, some transportation of materials and staffing events is required. This would require the ability to lift boxes and bend or stand as necessary. Employee may be required to lift and move items weighing up to 25 lbs.
