3DE Schools, Atlanta, Georgia, United States, 30383
About 3DE by Junior Achievement
3DE by Junior Achievement (JA) is a non‑profit organization dedicated to transforming high school education. 3DE is the newest innovation from JA to transform high school education. 3DE was designed with and is implemented in partnership with school districts to make high school more relevant, experiential, and connected to the real world through project‑based learning, case methodology, and competency development. Our goal is to prepare students for the demands of tomorrow's economy, providing them with the opportunity for a choice‑filled life.
About the 3DE Learning Institute The 3DE Learning Institute designs and delivers high‑impact adult learning experiences that build educator and system capacity for competency‑based, real‑world, case‑driven instruction. Our work spans in‑person learning experiences, facilitator‑ready resources, and asynchronous modules that support multi‑level teacher certification and district‑wide implementation.
Role Overview: Director of Learning Design – 3DE Learning Institute The Director of Learning Design is the architect of the learning experience across the 3DE Learning Institute's portfolio—live sessions, asynchronous modules, and certification‑aligned learning pathways. This role ensures our adult learning is coherent, rigorous, practical, and measurable, translating institute strategy into clear learning progressions, assessments, and facilitator‑ready experiences.
A core responsibility of this role is to lead learning design in partnership with districts, engaging in national co‑design work to ensure institute offerings reflect real school and system conditions. You will collaborate with district leaders, institute facilitators, and internal teams to shape learning experiences that can be implemented with fidelity across diverse contexts.
Core Responsibilities
Learning Design & Curriculum
Design end‑to‑end learning experiences using adult learning principles, competency‑based progressions, and practical application.
Develop learning blueprints for flagship institute sessions (pre‑work → live experience → practice → follow‑up).
Build assessment and reflection tools that capture learning and transfer without creating unnecessary burden.
Asynchronous Modules & Digital Learning
Establish a consistent structure for asynchronous modules (narrative arc, micro‑practice, checks for understanding, artifacts).
Partner with the async module writer on storyboards, interactivity decisions, and evaluation plans.
Ensure modules are accessible, inclusive, and aligned to institute standards.
Facilitation Enablement
Co‑design facilitator guides, run‑of‑show documents, and participant experiences that are intuitive and repeatable.
Support facilitation readiness (protocols, timing, discussion sequences, practice structures).
Occasionally, co‑facilitate or observe sessions to calibrate design quality and learner experience.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner with the team to ensure design timelines, resource needs, and production milestones are realistic and met.
Collaborate with Teacher Development leadership to align learning design to certification requirements and teacher journey milestones.
Work with resource development and graphic design supports to create materials that are clean, consistent, and instructionally purposeful.
Desired Experience
Professional Background:
7+ years of experience in learning design, instructional design, curriculum architecture, or learning experience design (adult learning preferred).
K-12 Teaching experience preferred
Skills & Competencies
Demonstrated ability to design measurable learning experiences and translate strategy into coherent learning pathways.
Experience designing across modalities (in‑person + blended + asynchronous/digital learning).
Strong facilitation instincts (even if not a daily facilitator): you can design for the room.
Comfort collaborating with creative production (graphic design, templates, participant guides, slide design
Technical Proficiency:
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration/project management tools such as Teams, Asana, and Slack
