Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Digital Engagement, the CRM Solutions Architect serves as the primary technical architect for the University's Salesforce ecosystem. This role is responsible for the platform's structural integrity, scalability, and long-term health, and brings technical architecture expertise to ensure these practices are implemented.
The role involves designing and configuring Experience Cloud portals and implementing Marketing Cloud journeys for personalized communications throughout the student lifecycle. The CRM Solutions Architect is key to ensuring successful digital transformation for the University and establishing platform standards that unlock capabilities that support a student's academic journey from initiation to graduation and beyond.
The position may require occasional evening, weekend, or holiday hours.
Essential Functions
Translates business requirements into solutions that best leverage the Salesforce platform and various integrations.
Serves as the primary Salesforce technical expert, providing technical advice, design direction, and leadership to all team members to advance projects.
Designs, recommends, and documents solutions that leverage Salesforce best practices and introduce new technologies when necessary.
Designs, builds, and configures applications that are highly functional, scalable, and easily maintained.
Develops end-to-end Salesforce solutions, including custom platform development (APEX, Triggers, Lightning Web Components, Flow orchestration, etc.) and external data integrations with middleware tools and Salesforce APIs.
Establishes and leads a platform governance framework to sequence project requests that maintain architectural standards.
Participates in and guides code reviews and unit testing to ensure alignment with team development standards.
Collaborates on the effective management of the CI/CD pipeline and version control (e.g., GitHub,) to ensure smooth deployments across environments.

Additional Functions
Leads the estimation and standardization of technical work effort for prioritization input.
Supports post-deployment activities, including knowledge transfer, process documentation, and application bug fixes.
Provides advanced application support by analyzing, replicating, and providing root cause analysis for defects. Troubleshoots and resolves functional and performance-related issues.
Collaborates on the effective management of the CI/CD pipeline and version control (e.g., GitHub,) to ensure smooth deployments across environments.
Ensures that all CRM strategies and tools comply with educational regulations and institutional policies, maintaining the integrity and security of student and faculty data.
Customizes the Salesforce platform to meet specific institutional needs, reflecting an understanding of the diverse requirements within university settings and the ability to tailor solutions for maximum impact.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a technology field or a related field, or in lieu of a degree, 8+ years relevant experience.
Minimum of 5 years of technology architecture experience in Salesforce Architecture, including but not limited to: Sales, Service, CRM Analytics (CRMA), Experience, and Marketing Clouds.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
Certifications: Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I and II.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with various stakeholders, including faculty, administrative staff, and technology partners.
Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a proactive, self-directed work style.
Ability to simplify complex technical concepts and lead stakeholders through solution tradeoffs.
Proven background in solution architecture, and/or technical consulting.
Deep understanding of the Salesforce security model.
Experience establishing code version control and CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I and II.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with various stakeholders, including faculty, administrative staff, and technology partners.
