About Us:
First Baptist Church of Brewster (FBC) is a small, intergenerational congregation with a long history in the heart of Putnam County, New York. We strive to create a welcoming space for spiritual growth, community service, and worship that is rooted in both tradition and heartfelt expression.
Role Summary: We are seeking a musically gifted and spiritually mature individual to lead our Sunday morning worship music ministry. This is a part‑time role (approx. 8 hours/week) well‑suited for a college music student, recent graduate, or other experienced musician interested in building leadership and creative direction in a church setting.
Responsibilities:
Lead and accompany congregational worship on piano or guitar (preferred)
Plan and coordinate weekly worship music in collaboration with the pastor
Rehearse and guide volunteer musicians and vocalists
Select songs that reflect a blend of traditional and contemporary styles
Support a worship atmosphere that is inviting, heartfelt, and Christ‑centered
Prepare for and attend weekly Sunday service (10:30 AM)
Optionally assist in seasonal services (e.g., Christmas, Easter, etc.)
Qualifications:
Proficiency in voice and at least one instrument (piano or guitar preferred)
Ability to lead group worship and coordinate volunteers
Familiarity with contemporary Christian and traditional hymns
Dependable, communicative, and collaborative
Experience in Christian church settings is a plus, but not required
Compensation: Stipend offered, commensurate with experience and time commitment. FBC values student growth and is open to structuring the role around an internship or college service‑learning component.
