Summary
This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management, AC Front Office, Survivor Advocate, located in Washington D.C. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location.
About the Role
In this crucial role, you will take charge of the Survivor Advocate program, leading operations and managing policies, products, programs, and services that support survivors. The starting salary for this position ranges from $169,279.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $197,200.00 (GS-15, Step 10).
Key Responsibilities
Direct the day-to-day operations of the Survivor Advocate program and oversee the development and execution of survivor advocacy policies and services.
Collaborate with the Assistant Commissioner of Human Resources Management and senior leadership at CBP to effectively manage short- and long-term operational strategies.
Lead the CBP Valor Memorial Committee and coordinate the Annual Valor Memorial Ceremony in partnership with program offices.
Assess and evaluate action plans, products, and services to ensure they meet established goals and objectives.
Proactively address operational issues to promote successful program development that aligns with CBP and community needs.
Continuously review programs for operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, such as: Providing support to surviving family members through effective advocacy practices, including crisis intervention and understanding grief and loss. Coordinating projects with law enforcement and government entities for a unified survivor advocate approach. Ensuring advocate programs are effective in supporting surviving family members and identifying areas requiring assistance. Note:

includes both paid and unpaid positions, including volunteer work and internships. All qualifying experience will be credited. Additional Notes The position may be filled on a temporary basis for up to 3 years, with potential extensions for an additional 2 years. Newly appointed GS-15s must complete mandatory leadership training within the first 90 days, lasting approximately 5 weeks.
