Incorporated in 1955 and encompassing more than 454 acres, the Mt. Prospect Park District provides outstanding recreational programs, events, parks, facilities and services. With seven primary facilities and 27 neighborhood parks, the Park District is an integral part of a thriving multi-generational community.
District open space includes two outdoor pools, biking and walking paths, a dog park and sizable space for outdoor athletic programming. The District covers over 11 square miles and serves a region of over a quarter million residents in Mount Prospect and surrounding communities.
Job Overview We are searching for a part‑time seasonal Golf Course Greensperson to complete the physical tasks required to produce and maintain a golf course. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a criminal background check. The position runs May through August, requires daytime, evening, weekend and holiday hours, and offers $15.50 per hour plus park district facility discounts and usage benefits.
Essential Duties
Mowing
Trimming
Change putting green cups
Tee service
Rake bunkers
Prune trees and bushes
Topdressing
Operate landscaping equipment
Landscaping tasks
Participate in the Park District’s Safety Training programs and abide by Park District policies and procedures. Be available to work during the week and on the weekend.
Secondary Duties Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Perform additional duties as assigned that may be considered essential.
Qualifications
At least 18 years old.
High‑school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Effective communication skills for coordination of work, safety, and emergency situations.
Ability to follow required department safety procedures and participate in the Park District safety training program.
Dependable and able to work with limited supervision. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function.
Physical Job Qualifications Must be able to stand and walk for long periods, frequently ascend/descend >25% grade, lift 50+ pounds from a squat position, push/pull, reach, balance, bend at waist, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, sit, stoop, and handle objects over long periods. The role involves indoor and outdoor work and exposure to hazardous situations, cuts, bruises, minor burns, sounds, noise, and environmental conditions such as water, sun, high humidity, and heat or cold.
Schedule & Hours Daytime, evening, weekend and holiday hours are required. The schedule may vary; work weeks may exceed 40 hours at times, but will be strictly less than 1,000 hours per year.
