
Overview of Credit at Cardinal Health
At Cardinal Health, our Finance department is integral in overseeing accounting, tax, financial policies, and the safeguarding of our assets. The Credit team expertly manages trade and note receivables, ensuring robust credit underwriting, customer relationship management, and prioritizing credit risk mitigation.
Position Summary
The Credit Specialist plays a vital role in providing operational and analytical support for customer credit activities across our trade accounts receivable portfolio. This position supports Acute Health Systems, Nuclear Pharmacy, and other healthcare business sectors, ensuring precise credit setup, ongoing maintenance of credit limits, and adherence to payment terms while monitoring portfolio exposure. You will play a key role in escalating complex or high-risk matters to the Credit Manager for informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in credit origination by reviewing financial documentation, payment histories, and credit analyses prepared by Credit Analysts.
Ensure accurate setup and continual maintenance of customer credit limits, risk indicators, and controls within accounts receivable systems.
Monitor assigned portfolios to assess exposure levels, aging trends, and payment behaviors, identifying early signs of risk.
Evaluate account utilization and payment trends for necessary routine credit adjustments, preparing documentation for leadership review.
Compile account summaries to support escalation related to elevated risks or special account statuses.
Track special-status accounts, including bankruptcies and insolvencies, ensuring proper credit controls are enforced.
Collaborate with Collections, Sales, Customer Service, and Finance teams to facilitate credit inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
Review credit-related reports and system data for accuracy and integrity.
Support audits and compliance reviews while driving improvements in credit processes and systems.
Execute credit activities with a strong commitment to established policies and procedures.
Deliver reliable insights and documentation to back credit decision processes.
Identify standard issues and escalate high-risk concerns with comprehensive supporting information.
Enhance team efficiency and data accuracy through diligent practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience preferred.
4-6 years of experience in credit support, credit analysis, or accounts receivable operations preferred.
Background in healthcare distribution, manufacturing, or regulated B2B environments is a plus.
Ability to interpret financial summaries and credit reports effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for reporting and monitoring.
Willingness to adapt to evolving systems and tools.
Strong attention to detail with organizational skills focused on data accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Professional and collaborative mindset with a process-oriented approach.
Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with SAP preferred.
Knowledge of dashboarding/reporting tools is an added advantage.
Understanding of trade credit and order-to-cash processes preferred.
Exposure to compliance and audit processes is beneficial.
Experience in monitoring credit exposure trends is advantageous.
