Summary Supports the Product Engineering department by assisting Product Engineers in the creation of 2D drawings and 3D models; also performing Engineering changes of drawings and 3D models.
Job Functions
Create new drawings/3D CAD models and make drawing/model changes for processing engineering change orders.
Check drawings and models for accuracy and adherence to standards.
Ensures quality of drawings and CAD models; analyzing the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems.
Help define or improve CAD standards and best practices.
Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner, as well as ability to work independently with little direction, when needed.
Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
Interface with customers as necessary to clarify design objectives on projects and communicate updates to Sales Department.
Adhere to DPG production release procedures.
Continue education to stay current on the latest technologies. Maintains technical knowledge by conferring with technical specialists and suppliers; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
Performing other duties as assigned or directed.
Reading and understanding the company safety policies.
Specifications Required

Ability to operate at an advanced level with computer software
Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Knowledge of document control systems like Teamcenter is desired
Ability to demonstrate professional communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to multitask between projects and prioritize when necessary
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization
Ability to work efficiently and independently and manage time well
Ability to be careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks
Willingness to stay late and work overtime when necessary.
Education & Experience
Associates degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering Technology / CAD and 7+ years of experience in design and development of mechanical systems
7+ year experience using 3D CAD software (Solid Edge preferred)
Experience with MS Office applications (i.e. MS Word & Excel)
Strong intrapersonal skills - ability thrive in a team oriented, creative, and collaborative environment.
Sound knowledge of engineering design principles.
Advanced knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance analysis.
Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)
Experience managing large assemblies and complex design systems
