## Lead Product Designer, Guest ExperienceAs the world’s largest car sharing marketplace, Turo is growing, and we’re hiring in the San Francisco Bay Area. We’re looking for a Lead Product Designer on our Guest Experience team who brings exceptional taste and a high craft bar to own initiatives across native mobile apps and desktop web, creating simple, premium, and intuitive experiences.# ****About the team****At Turo, design is a driving force behind the customer experience. We operate in a high-visibility environment where design quality is a shared priority for leadership at every level. Designers lead through the strength of their craft, using thoughtful critique and iteration to reach a level of finish that commands confidence at the highest levels of the company. While strategic direction is guided by leadership, many of our top priorities are sparked by design-led visions and research insights. The Guest Design team is a close-knit group of around 10 end-to-end generalists ranging from mid-level to staff. We are relentless about raising the craft bar, and as designers grow here, they are expected to lead the full design process while developing standout strengths in one or two areas: product strategy, experience design, or visual craft. You will have a meaningful hand in how the experience looks and behaves for millions of guests, in a team that values curiosity, care, and shared ownership. This role carries staff-level responsibility for modeling excellence and mentorship to help raise the bar across the entire team.# ****What you will do****As a Lead Product Designer on our Guest Experience team, you’ll craft high-quality experiences that help guests move from browsing to booking with confidence. You’ll be trusted to own key moments of the guest journey, turning complex decisions into clear, cohesive flows and interfaces that help guests understand what matters and choose with confidence. Work is organized around problems, and designers are empowered to follow the problem across key moments of the guest journey over time. This is an end-to-end product design role where outstanding UI, interaction, and motion craft are core levers—working alongside strong problem framing, judgment, and cross-functional partnership—to solve meaningful guest problems. You’ll use modern tools, including AI, when they meaningfully improve exploration, iteration, and quality, without replacing the human touch that great design requires.# **Responsibilities*** Apply finely honed taste and a discerning eye to craft emotionally resonant experiences that define the aesthetic signature of our brand. Consistently push past standard solutions to reach a level of finish that defines excellence.* Own designs end-to-end, from problem framing and design strategy through north star visions and high-fidelity execution across native app, mobile and desktop web.* Mature interaction standards across the Guest experience by defining motion states, transitions, and micro-interactions. Use these to drive clarity, communicate progress, and make complex decisions feel effortless.* Translate strategy into tangible, elevated experiences through continuous prototyping. Use interactive models to test boundaries, de-risk solutions, and build collective confidence in a design direction.* Communicate clearly and influence effectively, aligning partners through strong rationale and practical tradeoffs across design, product, and engineering constraints.* Navigate ambiguous territory by balancing evidence with intuition. Know when to go deep on exploration and when to ruthlessly distill a concept to its absolute core.* Treat research and metrics as creative constraints. Use them to challenge assumptions and uncover hidden friction to ensure directions are backed by a clear rationale.* Model Turo’s design principles, process, and company values: Grounded, Driven, Expressive, and Bold.# ****Your profile***** Typically 12+ years of product design experience with exceptional interaction and visual design skills evidenced by a portfolio of impactful consumer-facing work across native app, mobile, and desktop web.* Strong product judgment, including the ability to decide where craft investment matters most and where restraint or simplicity is the better path forward.* A penchant for reducing complexity and maintaining a cohesive, premium standard across end-to-end consumer experiences.* Comfort navigating between broad problem framing and detailed execution, bringing structure to ambiguous problems without sacrificing quality.* Effective communication and influence skills, with the ability to articulate clear rationale and make practical tradeoffs across experience quality, technical constraints, and business goals.* Practice balancing evidence with intuition, using research and data to inform direction while trusting design sense to build momentum.* A low-ego, collaborative approach and a persistent bias for action. For this role, the target base salary range in San Francisco is $178,000-$222,000 annually.
