Job Summary
Primary external contact for Gymnastics and Volleyball.
Determines and develops media relations and social media strategies.
Provides content development for digital platforms, and leads and instructs student assistants.
Works closely with coaches and staff to provide recruiting assistance through digital channels.
Job Duties 40% - Essential - Gymnastics Communications This role leads all media relations, digital strategy, storytelling, and statistical operations, ensuring accurate and timely coverage of practices, meets, and milestones. Responsibilities include writing previews and recaps, coordinating interviews, managing web updates, producing social media content, and identifying feature opportunities that highlight the program's culture and competitive success. This position partners closely with creative to deliver high-quality visuals and digital assets, supporting both recruiting and fan engagement.
40% - Essential - Volleyball Communications This role leads all media relations, digital strategy, storytelling, and statistical operations, ensuring accurate and timely coverage of practices, matches, and milestones. Responsibilities include writing previews and recaps, coordinating interviews, managing web updates, producing social media content, and identifying feature opportunities that highlight the program's culture and competitive success. This position partners closely with creative to deliver high-quality visuals and digital assets, supporting both recruiting and fan engagement.
10% - Essential - Provide Leadership for Student and Grad Assistants Provides leadership, mentorship, and hands‑on training to graduate assistants and student assistants within Strategic Communications & Publicity. This role helps by teaching best practices in writing, social media, content creation, statistics, and gameday operations. Responsibilities include regular management of GA and undergraduates, offering feedback, providing project direction, and cultivating a positive and professional learning environment aligned with Clemson's values. The assistant director also supports scheduling, delegation of tasks, and the development of student portfolios.
10% - Essential - Creative Support Supports department-wide creative initiatives by contributing high-quality content that advances Clemson's storytelling philosophy and strategic communication goals. This includes assisting with video scripts, feature stories, social campaigns, postseason promotions, and initiatives tied to facilities, alumni engagement, and student‑athlete development.
Minimum Requirements Education
- Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience
- 1+ Years working with external communications on the collegiate or professional level
Responsibilities
- JOB KNOWLEDGE: Firm job knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use them in varied situations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Acts as Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.
Budgetary Responsibilities
- No budget responsibilities.

Work Schedule Standard Hours: 40 Hours / Week
Compensation Information Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
Essential Personnel Level Normal Operations. Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
