Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Agencies & Institutions Licensing Specialist. Under general supervision, this position will conduct and/or provide input into licensing studies, investigations, and reviews of child welfare agencies, child care institutions, maternity centers, group homes, emergency shelters, and secure care facilities. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about children and interested in playing a role in ensuring that agencies and institutions provide a safe, caring environment for children. Minimum Qualifications

Preferably requires a master’s degree in social work; OR a master’s degree in a related human service field, supplemented by one year of directly related professional casework/case management experience; OR requires a bachelor’s degree in social work and one year of directly related professional casework/case management experience; OR requires a bachelor’s degree in a related human service field and two years of directly related professional casework/case management experience. The college or university issuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree must be accredited, and the degree program in social work must be approved by the Council on Social Work Education. The directly related professional casework/case management experience must be related to family preservation, family reunification, adoption, youth development, counseling, and advocacy services or a related field.

Conditions of Employment

Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history. Requires possession of a valid driver’s license, daily access to an automobile, and proof of vehicle insurance. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine. This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
