Job Summary Oldcastle APG’s Operations Performance Teams goal is to improve APG into a world-class manufacturing operation, driving financial improvement and employee satisfaction. The Operations Improvement Specialist is an integral role that supports all Operations Performance initiatives at the national level to maximize efficiencies. This role will assist the local facilities in understanding and achieving goals that will drive financial results along with employee satisfaction. The OIS is a full‑time hands‑on, dedicated influencer, focused on delivering Operations Performance Systems (OPS) and driving improvements across sites in each region. Every day is different and every day brings with it a new set of challenges. They will gain skills in personnel issues, finance, sales, special projects and proposals, as well as the daily operations of the manufacturing facility.

Job Location This is a remote opportunity that needs to be based near a major airport in the US.

Job Responsibilities

Rotate through various operations functions to include gaining knowledge of production activities, manufacturing processes, safety and quality programs, business development, and much more.

Work closely with Performance team, Site Managers, Operators, Maintenance Managers, and other leaders to gain understanding of needs and gaps in our plants and develop solutions and ensure sustainability across region

Ensure that the appropriate key metrics are in place at all levels of the organization

Manage the design and deployment of new continuous improvement processes and tools to improve operations productivity across all manufacturing locations.

Coach and manage team on implementation of tools and processes across sites

Drive the standardization of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices

Communicate with local company leadership to ensure understanding, receive feedback and gain buy‑in

Stay current with new methods and technology available to support process improvement

Other duties as required

Follow DMAIC process to improve business profitability

Create and use dashboards and reporting tools to continually monitor performance, identify gaps and put action plans in place to improve. Work directly with site leadership to execute actions

Lead performance reviews, track actions, and drive improvement effort

Conduct frequent site visits and support continuous improvement efforts by enforcing the 5 Plant Fundamentals through audits

Implement and monitor OPS tools at local companies across initiatives

Assist sites in maintaining their maintenance programs by utilizing Maintenance Connection (CMMS) and the asset health monitoring system

Lead group training sessions on tools and best practices

Drive additional operations improvements projects locally including – but not limited to:

Problem‑solving local production/equipment challenges

Streamline site(s) processes – analyze each site, define the bottlenecks for each production line, build and execute a plan to increase production efficiency

Implement future OPS solutions yet to be developed

Job Requirements

Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time including some overnight stays

Very strong analytical skills - ability to analyze volumes of data, synthesize and communicate critical findings

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Construction, Engineering or equivalent work or Military experience

Communication skills that work with both a frontline manufacturing environment and an executive team

Leadership and/or managerial skills

Experience within the construction, building materials or related industry

Compensation

Base Salary range of $75,000 - $85,000 per year
