KPMG is currently seeking a Manager or Senior Manager to join our Trade and Customs practice.
Responsibilities
Meet with and provide advice to clients in a variety of industries on trade and customs compliance matters
Lead and manage client projects, including import/export classifications, audits, reviews, program development, and training among other areas
Support market development and thought‑leadership initiatives, including articles
Research, write, and review advice on various trade topics
Manage project engagement, including assembling teams, overseeing work, and full engagement responsibilities
Aid in the management, career development, and training of team members
Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment
Additional Responsibility for Senior Manager
Oversee market, practice, and business development
Qualifications
Minimum five years of recent direct consulting experience in trade compliance (e.g., 19 CFR, EAR, and ITAR) including tariff classification, customs valuation, free trade agreements, deemed exports, export jurisdiction, classification of complex products, licenses and other export authorizations, technology control plans, consent agreements, export controls and sanctions risk assessments, audits, and developing sustainable export compliance programs as an attorney, trade consultant, in‑house professional, or government official
JD/LLM preferred; minimum of a bachelor’s or associate’s degree from an accredited college or university or a minimum of twenty years of comparable experience; licensed CBL (Customs Broker License), CUSICO (Certified U.S. Import Compliance Officer), CUSECO (Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), CPA, MBA, EA, or JD/LLM from KPMG’s approved credential list. Candidates who lack one designation at hire must obtain it within one year
In‑depth experience with U.S. import and export control regulations with the ability to address complex matters with practical and operational advice and solutions
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication/presentation skills with strong technical skills and the ability to review transactional data using data and analytics; consulting experience in a leading tax/advisory or trade law firm is highly preferred
Ability to travel domestically and internationally
Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment‑based sponsorship now or in the future (no H‑1B, L‑1, TN, O‑1, E‑3, or other employment‑based visa sponsorship available)
Additional Qualifications for Senior Manager
Minimum eight years of recent trade consulting experience (19 CFR, EAR, and ITAR)
