Summary The Media Content Developer supports the School of Professional Advancement (SoPA) by designing and producing high-quality digital media assets for online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced learning environments. This role is primarily focused on media content development, including video, audio, graphics, and interactive elements that enhance teaching and learning. A smaller portion of the role supports Learning Experience Design (LXD) efforts by ensuring media aligns with instructional goals, accessibility standards, and learner needs.

The Media Content Developer collaborates closely with the Learning Design & Development (LD&D) team, faculty, and academic partners. Strong communication skills, technical expertise, and attention to quality and accessibility are essential.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of multimedia applications used to create interactive instructional materials, simulations, and learning objects such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, and XD, in particular), Microsoft Office, H5P, Articulate 360 and related software.

Proficiency with streaming audio and video, compression methods, file types, and formats.

Experience with learning management tools such as Canvas and online conferencing software (e.g. Zoom and Microsoft Teams).

Understanding of media products for use in online courses, including video, audio podcasts, interactive elements, and graphics.

Knowledge of and proper use of design principles in typography, color, and layout.

Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills.

A talent for design research, crafting creative and innovative concepts, and problem-solving.

Required Education And/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in digital design, multimedia design, interactive design, or a closely related field.

Minimum of two years of professional experience in media production or digital content development.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Digital Design, Interactive Design, and Multimedia Design, or a related field.

3 years of experience in content development or media production.

Ability to write instructional texts, storyboards, and audio/video scripts.

Experience with audio and video equipment.

Experience designing for online learning.

Experience with Canvas.
