VP of Trade Compliance Job Type: Full-time; Hybrid
Responsibilities
License Qualifier for the company
Monitor and provide consultation on international business compliance
Provide international compliance training and education for employees
Review and approve customers and vendors
Communicate with U.S. Customs and ensure prompt responses to US Customs inquiries.
Maintain FMC compliance as well as understand FMC regulations with the ability to re‑file tariff schedules.
Complete FMC re‑filing and conduct related employee training
Plan and conduct internal customs entry audits to ensure error‑free operations and regulatory compliance
Minimize late ISF entries as well as ensure timely customs entries and duty payments.
Acquire and maintain C‑TPAT certification
Provide continuous internal education and training to comply with law and regulation for international business compliance and prevent import and export regulation violations
Evaluate, introduce, and utilize compliance tools for customs operations and customer inquiries
Implement AI technology for commodity classification
Supervise, maintain and update company policy documents and licenses
Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist with implementation for the operations department
Automate manual operational processes
Develop and maintain the company’s compliance program (policies, procedures, manuals).
Ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state laws, as well as applicable international regulations.
Function as the liaison with the company to align compliance functions between the group and local practice standards.
Experience
Holding a US Customs Broker License is required
10+ years of logistics or transportation experience is needed
10+ years in managing a team is needed
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
Import customs operation and international forwarding experience preferred but not required
Knowledge and work experience in legal affairs is preferred
Ability to communicate professionally with U.S. Customs officers and internal senior leadership
Strong leadership and staff development skills
Knowledge of Logistics, Supply Chain, and International regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
