Position Interior Designer/ Senior Interior Designer

Location:

Washington DC (Hybrid: 3 days in-office / 2 days remote after onboarding)

Role Overview Zoe Feldman Design seeks an experienced Designer or Senior Designer to join our Washington DC office. This role is ideal for a highly organized, technically proficient professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑end residential environment and excels at executing projects from concept through final installation. The Designer serves as the creative and logistical project lead, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and at the highest level of quality while providing exceptional client service. This position requires strong leadership, refined design judgment, and the ability to balance creativity with operational rigor. After a successful onboarding and introductory period, this role will transition to a hybrid schedule of three days in‑office and two days remote per week.

Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field preferred

5+ years of experience in interior design, preferably in luxury residential projects

Strong design aesthetic with a portfolio demonstrating relevant residential work

Solid understanding of custom furniture, millwork, finishes, and materials

Strong technical proficiency in AutoCAD or Rayon Design required; Studio Designer a plus

Excellent organizational, time‑management, and multitasking skills

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Client‑focused mindset with a high level of professionalism and empathy

Collaborative team player with a proactive, solutions‑driven approach

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline‑driven environment

Willingness to travel for site visits and installations, including occasional overnight stays

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (valid work authorization required; no sponsorship available)

Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Management

Serve as the project lead for a two‑person design team (Designer, Design Assistant) from kickoff through installation

Manage 2–4 concurrent high‑end residential projects

Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, budgets, and design plans

Ensure adherence to process, scope, timelines, and quality standards

Mentor and oversee Design Assistant(s), delegating appropriately while maintaining accountability

Design Development

Collaborate closely with clients to understand their vision, lifestyle needs, and aesthetic goals

Develop comprehensive design concepts aligned with firm standards and client objectives

Prepare and present inspiration imagery, space plans, mood boards, and design presentations

Specify furniture, lighting, art, accessories, and decorative elements

Generate design intent for custom millwork and built‑ins, including elevations, door styles, hardware selections, and finish details

Procurement & Installation

Prepare and issue client proposals in coordination with the procurement team

Collaborate closely with procurement throughout ordering, fabrication, delivery, and installation

Work with vendors on specifications for custom or bespoke pieces

Oversee on‑site installations and styling, whether virtually or in‑person

When installations are conducted virtually, create clear and comprehensive installation guidelines for clients

Client Relations

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle

Lead client meetings and presentations alongside Creative Director

Maintain clear, consistent communication to ensure a positive client experience

Present and justify design decisions to the Creative Director and implement feedback effectively

Physical Requirements

Ability to navigate project sites, including climbing stairs and standing or moving for extended periods

Ability to lift and carry packages or materials up to 30 lbs as needed

Ability to communicate clearly with clients, contractors, vendors, and team members, both virtually and in‑person
