We are currently seeking an intellectually and culturally curious Mid‑Level Freelance Designer with 5–10 years of professional interior design experience. The role spans residential, hospitality, retail, and experiential design.
The Designer will manage 2 to 3 projects concurrently, ensuring quality of work, design intent, schedule, and budget. Working alongside senior staff, the Designer will direct junior and entry‑level/intern designers on projects of varying scale and typology.
Relationship management with vendors and consultants is required. Communication in English, both written and verbal, must be fluent and efficient.
Qualifications
Education: Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field.
Experience: 5–10 years of professional design studio experience (internships excluded).
Diverse Portfolio: Demonstrated residential design experience required; varied commercial and retail projects with extensive FF&E experience, from small objects and spaces to large‑scale, ground‑up projects.
Technical Proficiency: High‑level proficiency in AutoCAD (drawing set experience), Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and Excel. V‑Ray proficiency is ideal but not required.
Design and Visualization: Ability to take projects from concept through construction, including conceptual sketches, renderings, design and construction drawings, documentation, millwork design, and representation; extensive knowledge of finishes; ability to create material palettes; familiarity with NYC consultants, showrooms, and vendors preferred.
Approach: Resourceful, independent yet collaborative; thrives in fast‑paced multidisciplinary settings; collaborative spirit within a small, energetic team.
