Senior Municipal Court Clerk

Under the general supervision of the Municipal Court Administrator, the Senior Court Clerk is a hands-on, working clerk position that supports the daily operations of the Towns Municipal Court. The role focuses on customer service, accurate case processing, and courtroom support. The Senior Court Clerk assists with juvenile cases when they arise, including youth diversion efforts, but juvenile case management represents a smaller portion of the overall workload. The ideal candidate brings municipal court experience, strong attention to detail, and a steady, service-oriented approach to supporting the fair and efficient administration of justice. Examples of Duties Assists customers in person, by phone, and by email by answering questions and explaining court procedures, payment options, and next steps. Supports daily court operations by processing citations, complaints, warrants, payment plans, deferred dispositions, and court date requests. Enters and updates case information accurately in the court case management system. Receipts and balances fines, fees, bonds, and other court payments; balances the daily cash drawer. Prepares court dockets and supports hearings and trials in coordination with the Police Department, Judge, and Prosecutor. Serves as courtroom clerk during court sessions. Maintains court records in accordance with state law and Town retention policies. Assists the Court Administrator with workflow coordination and provides backup support as needed. Performs other related duties to support efficient court operations. Juvenile Case Management (As Needed) Assists with basic juvenile case processing in accordance with applicable Texas law, including administration of youth diversion programs when needed. Communicates with juveniles and parents regarding court requirements and compliance. Tracks completion of court-ordered requirements and prepares routine documentation and updates. Typical Qualifications Education and Certification: High School diploma or GED required. Level I Municipal Court Clerk Certification required or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Associate degree in a related field preferred. Level II Municipal Court Clerk Certification preferred. Experience: Experience working in a Texas municipal court required. Two (2) or more years of experience as a court clerk in a Texas municipal court preferred. Experience with INCODE Court Case Management System preferred, or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and utilize court-related software. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
