About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director to lead its newly unified environmental organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for uniting staff behind the mission, leading the development and execution of a new strategic plan, and representing the organization with various stakeholders. Key responsibilities include strategic leadership, fundraising, and external relations, as well as fostering a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and shared accountability. The role also involves overseeing financial planning, budgeting, and working closely with the Board of Directors to advance the organization's mission.
Candidates for the Executive Director position should have a minimum of 5 years' of senior nonprofit leadership experience, with a proven track record in fundraising and donor stewardship. Essential qualifications include strong team leadership, communication skills, and a commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being. High emotional intelligence, humility, and collaborative leadership are also key attributes. While not mandatory, experience in environmental conservation, water issues, or advocacy, as well as familiarity with the Southeast, are preferred. The ideal candidate will have a background in leading organizations through change or growth and will be adept at strengthening policies and processes to support the organization's expansion.
