Job Description The Carrier Sales Representative is responsible for sourcing and managing carrier capacity, negotiating rates, and ensuring successful execution of freight shipments while delivering a high level of service to both customers and carriers.
Responsibilities
Negotiating rates with carriers and customers to secure profitable freight movement
Managing load boards and matching freight with appropriate carrier capacity
Building and maintaining long term carrier relationships
Preparing and presenting competitive freight quotes
Prioritizing tasks and making decisions in a fast paced, high volume environment
Providing consistent communication and service throughout the shipment lifecycle
Supporting temperature controlled and general freight shipments, primarily within food and beverage supply chains
Qualifications Required
Minimum of two years of experience in carrier sales, freight brokerage, logistics, or a related sales role, or a Bachelor’s degree
Experience with cold calling and outbound sales activities
Strong negotiation, closing, and relationship building skills
Ability to perform in a performance driven, fast paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem solving skills with a results focused mindset
Preferred
Experience in freight brokerage or third party logistics environments
Experience with temperature controlled freight
Experience supporting food and beverage customers
Previous logistics sales experience with the ability to ramp up quickly and contribute immediately
