Collections Specialist
to join their Southfield-based team. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in consumer debt recovery, negotiation, and regulatory compliance. Candidates must bring at least 3 years of experience and a commitment to delivering results with professionalism and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Contact consumers to collect outstanding debts through phone, email, and written correspondence
Negotiate payment plans and settlements that are compliant and mutually beneficial
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all account activity and communications
Monitor account status and proactively address potential collection challenges
Utilize skip-tracing tools and resources to locate and verify debtor information
Ensure compliance with FDCPA and all relevant state and federal regulations
Identify and pursue opportunities for asset recovery, including garnishments
Review credit applications and supporting documentation to inform collection efforts
Maintain a respectful and professional approach in all interactions with account holders
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in consumer debt collections
Strong understanding of FDCPA and legal collection processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); CLS system knowledge is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple accounts effectively
Strong problem-solving and investigative skills
Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently and in a team setting
