Position Summary ASTMH is seeking a strategic and collaborative Partnerships & Development Director to grow philanthropic support, deepen cross-sector partnerships, and expand revenue-generating opportunities that advance our mission. This role manages a diverse portfolio spanning individual giving, corporate partnerships, conference sponsorships, educational and research funding initiatives, and Society publications. The ideal candidate combines relationship-building strengths with the operational discipline needed to develop new programs and steward partners with excellence. Requires a self-starter who can succeed with limited staff support.
Key Responsibilities Fundraising & Individual Giving
Lead and grow ASTMH’s individual giving efforts, including:
Giving Tuesday campaign design, execution, and post-campaign stewardship
Planned giving program development and donor cultivation
Develop donor pipelines, cultivate and steward prospects, and prepare compelling solicitations, proposals, and reports.
Expand annual fund and recurring donor strategies to broaden ASTMH’s individual donor base (e.g. Launching a major capital campaign to ensure the organization’s long‑term financial sustainability)
Corporate Partnerships & Conference Revenue
Manage and grow Annual Meeting revenue streams, including:
Conference sponsors
Exhibitors and exhibitor engagement
Advertising packages
Side meeting coordination
Create sponsorship opportunities aligned with ASTMH priorities and ensure delivery of sponsor benefits.
Program & Proposal Development
Serve as co‑lead on the development of new educational, grant, and fellowship proposals, collaborating with scientific and program staff to shape fundable concepts.
Identify innovative funding pathways with foundations, corporations, academic partners, and global health organizations.
Events & Webinars (Non–Annual Meeting)
Develop and secure funding for underwritten events, including standalone webinars and virtual learning offerings.
Manage relationships with funders of these events, ensuring visibility, recognition, and impact reporting.
Publications-Related Revenue
Lead revenue development related to ASTMH and AJTMH advertising, including outreach to advertisers, maintaining relationships with existing partners, and developing new advertising products.
Communications & Donor Engagement
Collaborate with communications team to develop donor‑facing materials, impact stories, stewardship content, and campaign messaging.
Ensure consistent and mission‑aligned representation of ASTMH’s scientific credibility and global health equity commitments.
Operations, Reporting & Compliance
Tracking and reporting of donations across all revenue streams, including reporting for ASTMH Subgroups
Ensure compliance with grant requirements, sponsorship agreements, and ethical fundraising standards.
Support annual budget planning and revenue forecasting.
Support presentations to the Board on development‑related activities.
6–10+ years of development, partnerships, or business development experience, ideally in global health, medical research, or international development.
Demonstrated success securing gifts, sponsorships, grants, or advertising revenue.
Experience stewarding corporate partners, conference sponsors, or scientific community stakeholders is highly desirable.
Exceptional writing and communication skills, with ability to translate scientific content for donor audiences.
Exceptional attention to detail and multitasking skills.
Strong interpersonal and relationship‑management skills.
Proficiency with donor databases/CRMs (e.g., Impexium, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, EveryAction).
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
