Duties Summary The Administrative Assistant VI performs advanced administrative work in assisting the director of a department in directing the activities of large scale departmental programs; advises superior on various administrative matters; conducts special studies with delegated authority to implement necessary changes, procedures, etc.; and performs other duties as required.
This is NOT an office support or secretarial position. Example duties: conducting special studies and analysis of programs; collecting and analyzing data; investigating complaints and infractions of rules and regulations; identifying problems and alternative solutions and their advantages and disadvantages; developing logical recommendations for a course of action; etc.

Legal Authorization To Work

Education A bachelor's degree from an accredited four‑year college or university. Excess work experience may be substituted for education on a year‑for‑year basis if of comparable scope, level, and quality.
General Experience One and one‑half years of professional work experience demonstrating ability to write reports, analysis, proposals, and justifications; read and interpret complex written materials; resolve complex problems; express oneself orally in a clear and persuasive manner; establish and maintain cooperative relationships; and prepare operational and activity reports.
Specialized Experience Three years of professional work experience responsible for planning and coordinating program activities and solving operational problems involving administrative processes and relationships between programs. Demonstrated administrative abilities through completion of assignments or projects involving studies and analysis of programs, projects and services to assess effectiveness, adherence to program directives and achievement of goals, resource needs, cost and benefit factors, and other essential management concerns. Demonstrated high degree of analytical skill, ability to identify information needs, collect and analyze data, identify problems and alternative solutions, develop logical recommendations, and read, comprehend and interpret complex material and draft comprehensive reports.
Desired Qualifications At least three years of professional work experience in journalism, communications, public affairs and/or public relations, creating content for and managing the production of various communication tools such as social media, website development and management, video and photo creation, podcasts, PowerPoint, newsletters, internal communications, media relations communication, photography, or videography. Desired experience may be obtained concurrently with either the required general or specialized experience.
