This organization is dedicated to providing quality housing solutions while maintaining strict regulatory standards across its portfolio.
Job Description The Compliance Specialist will oversee regulatory compliance efforts across a multi-state affordable housing portfolio. This role focuses on ensuring adherence to HUD, LIHTC, and local housing agency requirements, conducting file audits, supporting rent and income certifications, and partnering with onsite teams to maintain compliance excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct detailed audits of resident files to ensure compliance with affordable housing regulations
Perform onsite reviews and monitor recertification documentation for accuracy and completion
Track audit findings and follow up with property teams to ensure corrections are implemented
Prepare documentation and support state and regulatory agency audits
Review applicant files to confirm eligibility under HUD and LIHTC guidelines
Respond to site staff questions regarding income qualifications, rent calculations, and regulatory requirements
Assist with rent adjustments, income limit updates, and utility allowance calculations
Support housing assistance payment (HAP) processing and related reporting
Ensure adherence to Fair Housing, ADA, and other applicable housing regulations
Participate in safety meetings and maintain compliance with internal policies and procedures
Qualifications
Minimum 2+ years of experience in affordable housing and multi-family property management
Direct hands‑on experience with HUD, HDC, and LIHTC programs required
Strong knowledge of income certifications, recertifications, and compliance audits
Proficiency in Yardi Voyager and Microsoft Office Suite
Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) or equivalent certification preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to travel between NY, NJ, and MA properties
Self‑starter with strong accountability and attention to detail
